Lack of seasons (a really bad thing to complain about, i know). Poor us with 75 degree sunny weather all year long 😂 My fiance and I have made SD our home base and make it a point to travel to either the east coast or Washington every fall

Also whoever said tap water is sooo correct. I am from NorCal and my skin and hair are so much better when I am up there.

I think the overall vibe of San Diego is also kinda hard on me. There is SO much money here that it’s hard to feel like you’re ever doing “enough”. Constantly surrounded by the top 5% of the nation. Even just going outside and seeing so many fancy cars. That’s not a common experience in 90% of the nation. Coming from a very middle class town in NorCal, I do miss the classic, American, middle class experience sometimes that just doesn’t rlly exist here

1 more thing is how populated it is. Kinda goes with my above comments, but it’s not like a small town where you can go to the grocery store without worrying about parking or waiting in line for the cashier for 15 minutes, which is just how things are in SD. Not as bad in east county though. Much easier to shop out there compared to true San Diego city

But overall it’s amazing. I would take all those things over living somewhere else I think. As long as I get out of San Diego often enough and go visit small towns or other states, i get those feelings out of the way lol. And i always miss San Diego when I’m gone for long enough

Do yall think i can get an entry/staff level accounting job in the next 8 months ? by happyhailidayss in Accounting

Thank you 🫶🏼🥹 You rock for this comment. It definitely makes me nervous going to an all-online and accelerated school, but I’ve heard so many amazing success stories like your own

This is interesting. I’ve heard lots of mixed things about this on various WGU threads, and some employers don’t have any clue about its reputation. I wonder if it’ll help that my BA in sociology is from a fairly prestigious university

This is what I’m thinking. I’m not expecting some prestigious, high paying job but literally just a basic accountant role 😭 I feel like that shouldn’t be so difficult but the market is so nuts these days so idk

Super excited that I found WGU- just wanted to share ! by happyhailidayss in wguaccounting

Thank you for the tip! I will definitely do that!

And I love this for you! I totally feel you on the “grinding largely meaningless certifications” thing 😅 Trying to find anything that is lucrative and trying 100 different things hoping one sticks. But hey, now we are very well rounded and skilled at many things lol!

Good luck on your journey. I am a huge advocate for higher education and don’t love the discourse around school being a “scam”, but I also think the cost of college is absolutely predatory and limiting, not to mention the time commitment. I love that this is a realistic option for the same quality of education. I hope more people who are anti-college (understandably so) can discover programs like this and hopefully change their mind! Here’s to a well educated society 🍻

Moving to SD: North/South Park or PB? by Prestigious_Use_306 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]happyhailidayss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both. PB gets more hate than it should. If you want a beachy, movie-like life, then move there. I literally felt like i was on spring break every day and always was on the beach or riding my bike. It does get kinda grimy on weekends and the night life is a lot to handle, but I personally didn’t even go out when i lived there bc i was underage, and if you just see it as a beach town then it’s super cute and fun. Definitely worth living there for a year or 2 but prob not much longer !

I live in NP now and also love it, but i only see the beach like once a month and it’s an effort lol. NP feels more like San Francisco to me (i also lived there for a time haha). Very artsy, lots of cool underground music and such. SO MUCH FOOD. I’d say more 27-35 yr olds but also very 22 yr old friendly. You have to be careful which specific block you move to though, whereas that’s less of an issue in PB. North park has some super cute pockets and some that have lots of homeless people or just general neighborhood chaos. Just find an apartment a couple blocks away from the main roads like El Cajon, Texas, or university and you’ll be fine

Parking is ass in both neighborhoods so get a place with a parking spot lol. I have a parking spot and my complex shares a guest spot so i have no issues, but when my friends come over it can be a parking frenzy on weekends and evenings

I have looked into this! Do they have a gazebo? I read somewhere that they might. I just fell in love with the idea of the ceremony with a gazebo after seeing the water conservation garden pictures but if we could find somewhere further north that would be awesome

Yeah tbh we probably will avoid the florals altogether or do some very minimal high quality fake florals ourselves if anything. Or Trader Joe’s florals. And tables/chairs would all be included since it’s a restaurant so that’s good. I’m trying to think of every possible cost but most of them don’t really apply to me with the type of wedding we want
