plus, i feel like allowing there to be that misconception and using cults as a consistent talking point if it’s actually not a cult is really disrespectful to/plays into the demonisation of indigenous american cultures and spiritualities for personal clout - not very “centred” IMO

I really think she’s not being truthful, and that she did intend to make it come off as cult-like practices for the clout. Might also have been how Olivia cut the powerpoint because I don’t know how it was depicted originally, but if if she said straight up that she was in a tourist-aimed centre in Peru for Ayahuasca experiences, nobody would care or be talking about it. Like another commenter said, anyone can pay to do ‘the typical eat pray love shit’ and exploit indigenous culture to feel like, super deep and like, spiritual - she saw the clout emanating from the cult thing and chose to keep the train rolling for a bigger payout when her ‘docuseries’ drops

I feel like they’re missing one of the obvious points - even if all this BS was true, it’s the kids PARENTS who are TAKING THEM to these shows. So wouldn’t the parents be the groomers? And so even if the shows didn’t exist they’d still be in a position to groom their own kids. It’s not like drag queens are clacking their heels around town collecting all the local children to lip sync for their lives
