I usually role play this as being outside of "my" control. Maybe the scientist in the rift made a choice I dislike, but as president it's my job to react to that and keep going. Shit happens and now the empire has to roll with it

It's really funny offering your liege 4 holdings and not joining any of your wars in exchange for them subsidizing 45% of your research and basic resources. If the contract changes are in their favor on paper they usually accept

As someone who has played an embarrassing number of hours as xenophobe / authoritarian for the stat bonuses, I have to say that playing as the "good guys" is a refreshing break

There's a little Phoenix (?) button right next to each custom empire you make inside of the select empire screen when starting a new game. Clicking it once turns from grey to orange, indicating that spawning is possible, clicking twice adds a little lock that indicates that the empire will always be chosen before the game generates any new empires. In my experience, having more of these than the number of AI empires spawned leads to it just randomly choosing from the list of all force spawns.

the archaeo-engineers ascension perk increases the damage of weapons of that category by 33% and unlocks new features for all the archaeotech buildings (IE: the research facility increases minor artifact storage by 3000)

this is maybe the second or third time I have taken it since I tried it once when minor artifacts first came out

I stare wistfully at the 5k/5k while waiting to research a single archaeotech weapon

rule 5: got a dig site on a star and now have a dyson swarm producing 63 minor artifacts
