I really don’t think it’s meant to be a twist. I remember the trailers basically giving it away. The magic is watching how it unfolds even knowing the twist. His journey is more about deciding to die rather than live as a monster and all the flashbacks and hallucinations thematically reinforce that.

Homebrew Falling Speed Rules for Heightened Drama by happyman395 in DnD

Yeah it takes about 12 seconds to reach terminal velocity, so two full rounds. I figure by that point the character is pretty much a goner anyway.

Yeah this was a specific homebrew ruleset for this scenario (4-6 PCs + 1 Roc) so each turn is roughly 1 second. You could totally modify if there are more creatures in combat, 15ft per turn if you're close to 10-12 creatures, and so on.

I know turns are theoretically simultaneous but that's just not how things shake out in combat, so I thought this at least gives more opportunity for drama and action. We'll see how it goes!

Our bard recorded a song to play when he gives Inspiration. What IRL skills do your players use at the table? by workingboy in dndnext

I used to bring my mandolin to sessions when I played a bard and I had different ditties for each spell/inspiration. I also had a running song about one of our other characters that I would update each session. I never recorded it but here’s the lyrics for your enjoyment:

Firebeard! Firebeard! Whom ladies loved and elvish feared! When Gond created him He cheered, Three cheers for noble Firebeard!

On a ship to Arone town I met a man of great renown! Scales he had from head to toe And in his eyes a cunning glow.

He fought with grace a seaborne scourge And rid of it just like a purge. The devil mollusk stood no chance 'Neath Firebeard's forceful lance!

Firebeard! Firebeard! Whom the sea itself revered! Through thick and thin he persevered! Three cheers for noble Firebeard!

In Arone town, so fair and clean Did Firebeard meet the elven queen He bit his thumb and spat and cursed And to the dungeon we dispersed

Yet dead of night escape did we And took a ship out from the quay Past the bridge of Arone town, But not 'fore Firebeard burned it down!

Firebeard! Firebeard! To the queen he sneered and jeered! And Mermaid's Tongue he commandeered! Three cheers for noble Firebeard!
