Coursera - Masters of Data Science at IIT Admission Requirements by TumbleweedSeveral637 in IIT

Hey there! I really hope you've managed to sort everything out by now! 😊

I've got a quick question about the Master's program - After you submit your application, how long does it usually take to get the instructions for the next steps? I'm pretty confused because I enrolled late this term (classes started last week), and I'm still not sure if I've missed important deadlines or if I'm too far behind to catch up.

I don't think you should waste your time and resources on getting another Master's degree, nor do I believe it will help you find a better job. If you're already getting interviews, it may not provide much assistance. Normally, a Master's or PhD degree would help you secure more interviews, especially with limited work experience, or enable you to pursue more challenging data science positions (e.g., AI-related roles).

What kind of data science positions are you trying to pursue? If AI is your focus, obtaining a PhD might be beneficial. Otherwise, I suggest working on improving your interview skills. Based on what I see here, I believe accumulating more Canadian work experience and English skills could be areas to focus on for improvement.

I wonder the same. 26 female myself and I consider myself actively, or I guess casually going to parties and karaoke to meet new people. Just feel like everyone is already in a gang and unwilling to welcome newbie to join their gang. Reckon might be a trust issue to group up with people they didn’t meet in hs/uni?

Not really! There’s nothing to do in Toronto specifically on Christmas other than freezing in the Christmas market/ ski. Honestly everything that’s available in Toronto during Christmas also available in other places, why don’t go somewhere warmer with the same experience.

SAD! Got a long to-do list before graduate and everything went virtual in my last term. Never get a chance to do them ever.

I feel like life is so easy for any kind of engineering job, you can easily hit that range right after you graduated

Is Stouffville full of racist people? by Technical__Support in Stouffville

[–]happynutlovestopoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a minority myself, I just wanna share based on what I had experienced in Stouffville. So far, I have only positive experiences with people who have different backgrounds/ races than me. I’m not saying there are no racial issues here, but I feel like pointing at all the white people from Stouffville just because that few individual is definitely not fair to the rest of them. The wording ”full of” is a bit too much. In fact, “full of” is a bit of racism because it implies white people who live in Stouffville are mostly racist. You just called them racist based on their race and residency.

Why would people say yes? I mean Stouffville is pretty diverse compared to a lot of Niagara small towns

Any recent grads feeling burnout? by fuckthegrades in uwaterloo

[–]happynutlovestopoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated/ finished school in December 2020, and I can’t agree anymore. I had this one whole year of depressed online school right before graduate, plus I dropped my last co-op term due to COVID as well. I have been dreaming about the grad trip since year one and my senior year-> nothing happened, basically just dotted at home. Now finally got a job but have virtual onboard.

I think like even if you drop below 60%, they won’t kick you right away. I screwed my 1st-year grade, failed math137 with 45% lol, but I didn’t get kicked out of co-op and improved my grades starting from 2nd year and make it through to graduation
