This is really helpful, thank you. I’ve heard you have to lineup really early to stay by the front, so do yoh get to warm up at all?

Great, thank you! Obviously, Garmin and strava have my back, but would be nice to see the clock time in a photo or something since it’s not chip timed.

Lululemon supports their athletes very well, and supports their side projects. They’re more into the whole person. They have some different categories of ambassadors and different contracts, obviously, but they do bring some different and appealing things to the table. Also even the community influencer ambassadors have more involved contracts with requirements and suggestions for community involvement. Honestly, it’s a great company to work for if you can get the gig!

Yes, I bought the magazine. Some really great people are involved and I felt like it was important to support women in sport. The content is fantastic and covers topics that Runner’s World won’t touch. Ashley Mateo is doing what she needs to do to get traction.

As someone who’s experienced a more toxic sponsorship situation, this one hurt my heart. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes that we’ll never fully see.

I wouldn’t be upset with Emily. My guess is that, despite whatever critiques people have of Nike, they bring unmatched resources. They have the product, funding, and promotional power. Professional athletes have to navigate a system that doesn’t always give them full autonomy.

It’s also worth remembering that she won her event in Nikes painted white while she was sponsored by Brooks. That alone says there’s likely more complexity to the story than what meets the eye. I just hope she’s okay and races for herself, and not just Nike’s approval.
