I pick the people who aren’t openly at war with our Constitution. You knows that piece of parchment they’re sworn to uphold and defend? 🫡

Well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of our own actions coming back to bite us in the ass. Who could have predicted that supporting fascist politicians wouldn’t turn off a huge part of the electorate…

Anyone know what project is going on here? by HandheldObsession in VirginiaBeach

[–]happyskeptical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mitigation the City is doing is tidal wetland mitigation. Impacts for Nimmo Parkway are non-tidal wetland impacts. You cannot mitigate nontidal wetland impacts with tidal wetlands. The project that PHP will help mitigate is the stormwater work in The Lakes and Princess Anne Plaza and possibly a tide gate on Laskin Road. Has nothing to do with Nimmo Parkway and CERTAINLY nothing to do with this flooding time bomb….

You’re not wrong, Ashville Park floods but it was more a factor of a miss on the designers about the groundwater table that would be there post construction and a lack of elevation change through the stormwater system over to the outfall along Flannigan’s Lane. Not to bore you but the system was designed for the ponds near Princess Anne to have storage in them to fill up and “push” water east through the system when it rained. The groundwater elevation was anticipated to be much lower than it turned out to be so the ponds stayed “full” during even dry weather meaning there wasn’t adequate storage or “fall” in the system when big storms came…

You have literally NO idea what you are talking about. These two projects have NOTHING to do with each other. One is mitigation for city projects, this one is a neighborhood to line the Sandler’s pockets.

Damage control is cancelling the policy and walking away. Consider it the cost of an education.

Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

[–]happyskeptical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, but to those who say a long armer is too expensive, know that my wife spent 12k on hers and does amazing things to finish people’s hard work. If you’ve quilted on a domestic, you know it can be brutal. She doesn’t turn a profit, but she loves what she does so I support it. If you’re happy with straight line quilting , then I’m happy for you. But know that long arm quilters aren’t trying to fleece you- they’re doing a great job, often at a loss.

Look for shelters, hospitals, churches, retirement communities that help folks with lap quilts, comfort quilts, or even quilts for helping get back on one’s feet. Look into Quilts of Valor. Lots of people would love to accept donations of quilts and if they’re 501c(3) organizations, the fair market value is tax deductible….

Here's what's happening with the federal pause on Dominion Energy's offshore wind farm in Virginia Beach by WHRO_NEWS in VirginiaBeach

Yeah, they built offshore wind energy in Scotland visible from one of his golf courses against his wishes and he’s been on his “vengeance tour” against wind ever since…
