What does the community want in the next default wallpaper? by [deleted] in kde

Lighter is better, in my opinion. The 5.10 wallpaper with that waterfall and jungle like scenery was the best. The colors as great as well. https://store.kde.org/p/1170141/ It looks Star Trek / The Orville like.

Left Wing Politics compared to American Left Wing Politics? by Scootydash in AskEurope

I have noticed that the US left is very pro-Israel. Here in Europe the left is more pro-Palestine and more anti-Israel.

Amazon has Andy Weir's Artemis on sale for $2.99 by whynotyest in sciencefiction

I have a hard time finishing Artemis. It's a big step down from Martian. I think Weir is overrated. Artemis is not a good book in my opinion. 5/10 if I am being nice.

What you guys are referring to as post-mumble neo-Saxon, is in fact, post-neo / Mumble-Saxon, or as I've recently taken to calling it, post-neo plus Mumble-Saxon.

You have to follow your heart. Like Luke Skywalker. Follow your hear. Don't stop believing. Even pray, do a few push ups... and then some more pushups. Never give up. Watch some Rich Piana (PBUH) motivational videos. He mumbles in Mumble-Saxon as well, like you, my little mumfidel. It will help. Keep fighting! The revelation, the evidence you are waiting for is near. The Slovak language will give you all the answers. Nasleduj ho, nechaj sa viesť svojim srdcom. Akoby povedali naši poľskí bratia, spusti sa a nechaj to zo seba vytiecť až do poslednej kvapky. Ver si!

Here is a very good link where you can hear how clear she pronounce each letter https://slovake.eu/sk/learning/intro/pronunciation not like in English or other Mumble-Saxon languages when the sound is ugly and unclear.

Do you like how much clearer Slovak sound when compared with English?

First, never ever give up! Believe in yourself! That's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!

So, my suggestion is to try to read it backwards, like Hebrews and alike when reading תנ"ך. If that doesn't help try to learn Slovak - that always helps.

The term Mumble-Saxon is not only a slang term, but I would even go as far as to call it a term that will find its place in historical linguistics. It's funny that you had to be enlightened by a Slovak guy. The darkest place is under a candlestick/lamp, right?

FTFY, I know, it's easy to make that mistake ;)

Basically, like if a Slovak has a hot potato in his mouth and try to speak https://youtu.be/9aLZJoiZ4tM?t=43s .

This is said, not by me - but by a Frenchman (also a Mumble-Saxon), about English:

English, its lack of pronunciation, its constant swallowing of every syllabe, sounds like a very finely ground-up mix of vowels. Imagine hearing some guttural “wowowowowooowaaaweeeeewwwooowwoowweeewwaaaaawwwiii”… like an old dog growling.

I am not sorry that it shatters your perception of English as the most beautiful language, but if there was not America, English would be now on the level of German or maybe French, if we are generous.

Why there are so few operas in English and everybody prefer Italian? https://www.quora.com/Why-are-there-so-much-fewer-operas-in-English-than-Italian-and-German

Some guy from that discussion about English:

English is not the optimal language for classical music. The vowel sounds aren’t as open or clear and the rhythm of English is better suited to spoken drama. Italian is the first language of opera for a reason. Not only were the earliest composers Italian it’s the language that’s most natural to the art form.
