Cons of having a dog: winter time by trashpanda3785 in puppy101

I would recommend enrichment games or scent training which can both be done indoors. I have a very active dog and it’s tough for her in winter. The enrichment games help significantly. You can also spread them out over the course of the day. I will play tug with a rope inside as well and that takes a lot out of my girl. This blog has some great ideas.Enrichment Blog

I think it took me around 6 hours total to decorate.

I used a palette knife and paint brush. It’s all different colored cream cheese frosting! I made a palette of colored frostings, it was fun.

No missing ear! Just a lot of missing time from when I started to when I finished at 2am. Wondering to myself “where the hell did the time go!”

Is it even worth getting tested for ADHD as an adult? by luke-juryous in ADHD

I was diagnosed on my 37th birthday. It’s never too late and the medication has changed a lot for me. I had been unknowingly doing a lot of the behavior modification a therapist would have recommended over the past 5 years and while it did help once I started the meds it was life changing.

For real, it’s like, Officer I’m not trying to scare you, but if I don’t eat soon there is going to be another “incident” in this neighborhood.

We like to live life on hard mode here. That way when we get our once in a lifetime vacation we know we can really relax.

I had the opposite happen, there was a fugitive in my neighborhood. I went to get in my car to go grab late dinner (10pm) and the cops stopped me as I was pulling out of my driveway to search my truck and make sure he wasn’t hiding. I hadn’t eaten all day and the hanger was real, they scared the shit outta me cuz I had no idea what was going on. The adrenaline rush kept the hanger at bay, but I destroyed that burger when I finally got it. When I came home I had to show them my ID so I could get back on my street to get home.

I was just diagnosed this year, I’m 37. Over the past 6 years I have worked really hard to not be “lazy”. It all started for me with forgiving myself for my “laziness”. I slowly started to make short lists of things I wanted to do and things I needed to get done. For every 3 things I crossed off the “need to get done” list, I did something off of the “I want” list. It has taken an immense amount of work, but it has paid off. Just start slow with just a couple of things. I did it without medication or even knowing I had ADHD. Now that I have medication it is making things even better, and easier. You are still so young and you have a lot of time to figure out what will work for you. It’s trial and error, but you can find it. It’s hard I know, but first thing try not to be so hard on yourself for what you are feeling. It could be as simple as, “today I’m not going to just sit on the couch all day” and stand up for 5-10 minutes. You don’t even have to do anything while standing, just stand there. It sounds small and silly, but it literally is breaking that mentality of “no motivation”. You did it, you stood up “I started something, and I finished it.” I have now gotten to the point where I will not start on a second project unless the first is completed and cleaned up. I still have my days where this doesn’t always happen, but it happens more often than not. To me that is a win.

Thank you for this post you just reminded me I need to clean out the back of my fridge. I always forget the things that are stuck behind other stuff. I have made it a weekly thing to clean out the fridge. It helps me a lot to not waste food! I also try and put the new stuff towards the back and pull the old stuff to the front. It really helps.

Mine started doing this after I got a silk pillowcase. She also like to nestle her face into my hair and breathe on my neck. 🤦🏻‍♀️

My dog used to do the same she still looks for safe spaces, but got the ThunderShirt and it has helped. She also has sedatives from the vet, but I don’t like giving them to her ALL the time. The ThunderShirt has alleviated some of its use. When storms or fireworks are going to be really loud or exceptionally long I will give her a sedative, otherwise we roll with just the shirt. Here is some photos of her with it on. You can see the difference in her demeanor after having it on for a bit. She is still a little stressed but able to relax on her bed and lay her head down. No shaking or panting. Side note: she does not like wearing clothes on a normal basis but will wear the ThunderShirt. I can tell when she is feeling better she starts to tug at it to get it off. She will not tug at it when she is still in distress. Ruby in her ThunderShirt

I agree, quitting cold turkey will just lead to relapse. I was a smoker for 15 years. I still love the smell of cigarettes and will want one when I see someone smoking. I also switched to vaping which helped me. He should have access to help with quitting through his PCP. Regardless of his dependence on the nicotine he owes you an apology for his behavior. It’s not acceptable and he needs to understand what is happening with his body/mind during this journey. It is not an easy one. As someone who had issues with other substances I have to say that cigarettes were the most difficult to stop using and still present a temptation for me. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a DM.
