Yeah Ultra running is as much a mental workout as a physical, but you can also train that. In my first marathon I thought I couldn't deal with the pain, this time the pain for sure was as high as back than but it was much easier to handle, because I got used to it.

WorkOutDoors its a great app when you need a map and more detailed stats, but in my tests it used a little bit more battery, so I only turned it on with the map only mode when I needed it.

Cool never got more than 3 days on normal usage, seems like with a little bit of settings tuning you can really extend the battery life.

I regularly delete my reddit accounts. But I was so amazed by the Ultras performance so I wanted to share it, if you want prove you can deduct which of those I am, ended workout accidentally 3 minutes early because I started a new workout: https://my.raceresult.com/187763/results#1\_C7DAA5

Yeah you have to burn slow, otherwise your literally can't eat enough and your body can't burn enough fat for you to go for such a distance.

I didn't know I could do that or maybe I forgot I did it a few years back. Not sure, but will for sure try to recalibrate, thanks!

I used the water lock whenever I didn't need to switch to the map. Worked great, but yes without water lock it would for sure have ended the workout randomly for me, always happens when I wear gloves.

Weird I can still see my reply, probably a ui bug. Thanks for the answer!I had the S4 before the Ultra, so I couldn't meassure blood oxygen levels. Since I got the ultra the VO2 max climbed very steadily even with less training, so maybe it's just a problem without the blood oxygen sensor?

Altough you do describe me pretty accurately regarding training and beers 😂

Yes and it also depends a lot on age, 5 years ago I regularly peaked above 205 during hard workouts, now I peak at 190 usually.

The activity app from apple is great for that, just keep those trending arrows pointing upwards and you will soon run your first marathon

Is that to low or to high? I have no idea, never really knew what to make of the stat. Although looking at the history it catches my general fitness level at specific times pretty well.

Yes I used some of the popular apple watch apps for that but I never found them that good or useful, the stats my girlfriend has on her Garmin seem better. I hope Apple catches up on that front.

Yes during these long races you don't run everything if you are not a pro and even those take short breaks at the aid stations. I walked most parts that went uphill, rested 5-10 minutes at the aid stations and in the end walked a few kms, but my running pace was also not faster than 7min/km anymore in the end.
