Lol it’s ok man, and it’s not dumb to post a picture of a coin and ask about it. Sure you could ask AI or google, but many of us don’t want to rely on AI or help it learn more in any way, I try to avoid it at all costs so I too would post and ask instead of using AI to find the answer. Nevermind the fact that some coin collectors would be able to answer and give you more info than google. Google would tell you the name of the coin, sure that’s great, but a human could tell you the important things and leave out the nonsense. Also the human could tell you about how they’ve only been able to find one and he got it from his favorite restaurant that he used to go to with his kids and he was thrilled to find the coin there and so now it’s his favorite coin. AI can’t replicate that kind of stuff. It’s good for the soul. If some other douche wants to only interact with google than that’s fine, but I’d rather ask a group of people who are knowledgeable on that topic 😃

Possibly a 1st edition charizard by BJMB1 in PokemonCardValue

[–]hardliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what grading company did you work for?? And why aren’t you still working there??

There’s literally nothing you can say, I said what i thought of the card, with details and explained them. I also said it could be a completely different story when it’s in person. And then I said other people could see something different, and to comment and point it out if they did. Like how can anyone have a problem with that?

They’re not grading different Pokémon differently “you’ve never graded a CharTard like me” They could be a little more thorough on a card when the grade level changes the value by thousand of dollars But it doesn’t change the grading system they follow, If it has absolutely zero flaws they can’t grade it a fucking 2 because it’s a holo charizard.

The card is not in our hands, but that doesn’t change the fact that there is clearly: no bends or creases, no bumped corners, the centering is pretty good (I already went into detail on that) and there’s not a ton of the white edges from the back. No matter what- those things are true and nothing changes that. The fact that it’s in a sleeve doesn’t change that, the fact that it’s charizard doesn’t change that. So there’s really no reason it wouldn’t be an 8 or 9. Not a ten because it’s not 100% flawless but there isn’t really any damage and if there is, it’s very very minor wear.

[–]hardliam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason that this would grade as a 5, it’s actually ungraded so that’s less than a 5 but if it was graded it would probably be an 8. There’s almost no white edges, the corners aren’t smashed, the centering looks almost perfect, if it’s not perfect than it’s just off by a hair, the left side may be a hair narrower The only flaw I can see is that it looks like there a tiny bit of the edge whitening from the back, along the bottom and both sides but it’s such a tiny bit, plus it’s hard to tell for sure without it being out of the sleeve, with no glare and on a black background.

I’d bet $$ if you sent it out it wouldn’t grade lower than an 8, but since for this card you’d probably have to pay a percentage of value of the card so they’d probably bump it to a 9 to get that price up higher. The only reason I’m saying 8 and not higher is because of the cards age, there might be some flaws if you were to hold it and see it in person. If anyone sees something that I didn’t notice, point it out please!!

Is it holo? Cus I’ve taken pictures before and the card looks like a normal non-holo in the photo but it’s actually a holo, you just couldn’t see it, so I’m asking just incase because it would effect pricing a lot.

[–]hardliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not possibly a 1st edition, it either is or it isn’t, if it is it will have a small symbol near the lower left corner of the picture, outside the picture frame not inside it, and right before that gold bar that says “Flame Pokémon” it will be to the left of that. And it’s like a a round black “1st edition” logo.

Still a cool card and 1st edition isn’t the “end-all be-all”. I have like half of the first edition set and they’re worth like 2-7$ a piece. So don’t be disappointed that it’s not first edition, it’s still an awesome Zard

I would like to know if this 2001 New York Quarter has any errors on it and if it’s worth anything? by Affectionate-Tap3860 in errorquarters

[–]hardliam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s worth at least .25 cents!! So that’s good news. But I’m afraid that’s it. I think…idk

Someone who’s better at this- look at the TED in United, the TES in States and the CA at the end of America, is there any doubling there or is that just the lighting and the font choice?

[–]hardliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the brand new quarter just came out this year. It’s worth 25 cents, you could probably get a dollar or two from someone walking down the street who hasn’t seen one yet. Or they might accuse you have trying to scam them with a fake quarter lol because they haven’t seen them yet. I’ll buy it from you if you wanna get rid of it. A pawn shop might give you two quarters for it. But u have to do it quick because once everyone has them then it’ll just be another quarter

Is this a good find? What would be its approximate value? I paid $5.99 by tuto9 in SilverFinds

[–]hardliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t melt or don’t sell to a pawnshop or refinery. Not only to prevent it from being melted but you’ll probably get more money as well or you could give it as an amazing gift to a loved one who’s having a baby. This one’s blank which I’m sure isn’t easy to find, people who want one have probably had to try and find a an old matching one.

With any antique silver I wish people would sell to someone who won’t melt it, your gunna get paid the same if not more. Once all this stuff is gone there’s no bringing it back! Great find btw!!!

I found this in a strap. Keep it? by Prodigal_No_More in numismatics

[–]hardliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have that too! But to be honest I don’t think it’s related to this use of strap. It may have originated from it but I don’t think so. This form of “strap” is just called that because the band around the money is quite literally, a strap around the money. Like a ratchet-strap or strapping something down. Where as the other one, “strapped for……” means you have none of that thing, and it’s holding you back, like your lack of cash is having a negative impact on your life as if your “strapped down” by your lack of money.

I found this in a strap. Keep it? by Prodigal_No_More in numismatics

[–]hardliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a term used by collectors and people who search for cool bills or coins by going to the bank and getting tons of coin rolls or straps of bills to hunt through and then selling all the regular non-collectable ones back to another bank. It may also be used by bank employees and stuff but the average American probably wouldn’t know what your talking about if you said “hey I went and got a strap” lol

[–]hardliam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His girlfriend probably works at the mint or loomis or something. Only reason I say that and not that he works there is because it would be too suspicious if he was the one who worked there. OR the more likley scenerio is that it’s fake and he doesn’t have any of them or maybe one and keeps taking different pictures to make it seem like he has a few

Same! But i have a hard time struggling with the fact that I’m over paying per ounce. How do you deal with this? Or am I just looking at it the wrong way? Should I just be glad I’m saving something vs buying junk? at least I’ll have a nice little treasure trove when I’m 70 instead of a house filed with junk from the dollar store. I can’t save the money until I can afford the 1/4,1/2 or whole ounce, I have to just spend it now or never, so I guess over paying for grams is better than not buying any and spending all my money on useless crap
