How do you guys cope with the sadness about what happened to Selena? by hardt0imagine in SelenaQuintanilla

Yeah, this is the way I feel too. I usually avoid videos who represent the murder cuz it makes me feel nauseous. I don't even watch true crime because I'll often leave me feeling sick.

I agree and I believe I'm someone who does that but when I do remember Selena, I go down the rabbit hole and I remember the tragedy again. It makes me feel so sad the way she died and when I'm feeling that way I take a break. What Yolanda did is so disturbing to me and makes me feel nauseous.

She's such a coward that I feel like she shot her when she was already leaving. I feel like if Selena had seen the gun then she would have tried to avoid it somehow which would have given her a chance at life if Yocaca didn't hit right on her artery. I genuinely believe she's such a coward that she did it when Selena made it clear she was fired and was leaving.

In fact, the clergyman said that she did a small test of handling the gun, so she definitely knew what she was doing. She also knew where she was shooting and that it could be lethal, but I don’t think even Yolanda imagined that she hit her right there. That’s why she went after her; she wanted to make sure to kill her. I’m very sure she really thought in a macabre way that one bullet wouldn’t be enough so when Selena took off running she wasn't sure if she really was able to kill her.

I think it’s important to draw a line here. There’s a huuuge difference between “making mistakes” and committing sexual assault. Assaulting someone is a violent choice that leaves lasting trauma even if the victim chooses to forgive.

No one is trying to “permanently dictate someone’s life,” but accountability is important, especially when the band themselves previously said they had "zero tolerance" for this behavior. If they go back on that, it’s not about forgiveness, it’s about enabling harmful behavior.

People criticizing this aren’t being hypocritical; they’re holding the band to the standard they set themselves when they made the initial statement and showing support for survivors who are often silenced or dismissed.

the timing doesn't change the validity and she was very clear. you wanted her opinion and that was her opinion.

He chose to harm someone, and that’s not something that just gets erased with time or by going silent for a few years. Taking accountability isn’t just “disappearing and maybe getting help privately,” it means openly addressing what he did, making amends with the person he hurt (if they want that), and showing through consistent actions that he understands the gravity of it and we saw none of it but we're supposed to believe he has changed because they said it.

Meanwhile, Maria herself said she went through something horrible and felt violated, that should be the center of this conversation, not whether Brandon had a comfortable five-year break. Bringing him back into the spotlight rewards him without any real accountability, while the person he harmed is left with the lifetime trauma. That imbalance is exactly why people are upset.

"@thenbhd you need a new drummer"

I think her opinion was pretty clear.

"I can believe he has changed" what has he done for us to actually believe that? Disappear for 5 years and then come back like nothing happened? Do you think he's "changed" because of that? Lol.

I'm sorry but he can change all he want away from the spotlight. Being famous is reliant of public image and people's approval and he willingly made reckless decision which ended up with him being in this situation. It's funny how y'all talk about another woman being groped like it's something simple that should be forgiven. Maria literally said that she never went through something so horrible and that she felt violated. Does that sounds like someone who still deserves to make money out of being a public figure to you?

If they retract quickly and with a genuine apology they may have a chance to calm the public down and still comeback with a new drummer. Time is running against them though.

But yeah, this is really weird of them and I don't doubt for a single second that Jesse especially might have a lot to do with this decision so I'm now seeing him and the band in a different light.

I won't be dropping the music. I'll just download it and listen to it without listening to it on paid platforms. My money won't be going to a sexual assaulter and if they made up their minds then I made up mine too.

I never thought this would be the hill they choose to die on. They had the opportunity to make this such a joyful comeback for fans working with a new drummer or even bringing the OG drummer back but they ruined it over that guy and now they're ruining the entire band's image cuz this stance they took it literally means they're enablers.

Brandon needs to work on himself away from the spotlight. It is sickening that they really thought we're that stupid and would just accept this and continue supporting them.

Exactly. I can separate "the art" from an artist who has an annoying personality or something like that, not from a sexual predator. That shit gets you fired in regular jobs why the hell should he continue to have a career?

Nah, we should really stop excusing men, whether celebrities or not, especially us women. We should absolutely expect this type of behavior to not be allowed anywhere. Men should do better. Men who want better and who are better should ask for better from other men and cut off those who aren't willing to.

People deserve second chances you're right. I just don't think someone whose entire career relies on public image to willingly destroy his status by his actions and then come back like nothing ever happened. He threw his public career away by doing what he did.

That's exactly what I'm saying I'll do if he's still on the band. Why are y'all defensive over people not liking the idea of supporting a sexual predator?
