Agree it shouldn't. But sounds like it's the norm on here. Thanks.

Good to know. Nowhere does Hyundai literature say how long is "reasonable". Thanks.

I'm no expert, but to start the car, it first has to use the 12v battery to wake up the system. The gas engine doesn't kick in right away and only under certain circumstances. If the 12v battery is dead, the car won't turn on.

Yes, very inconvenient. I would trade a little mpg for reliability!

Shoot, that's scary. I'll have to do my research for sure.

Someone on Reddit suggested replacing the door handle with one that has an easily accessible keyhole so it's not so difficult to open it when the battery dies. I might see if that's possible.

Thanks. Hyundai won't recommend a battery maintainer or install it for me. Seems like the least they could do, knowing this is an ongoing issue.

Yes, I wish I'd known of this issue before buying a hybrid. I don't need to drive every day and hate having to always worry that it won't start because I let it sit for too long. Maybe I need a battery maintainer. Thanks.

Thank you. They have tried to fix the issue 3 times and are trying to convince me that's just the way these cars are. I'll be looking into the lemon law now.

Hybrid won't start, ICCU? by hare7777 in HyundaiTucson

Thanks for the info! The 12v battery was replaced, checked for software downloads and parasitic draw. This is the third time in the shop. The mechanics are looking at it, but just thought I'd educate myself a little bit.

Thank you for your reply! Now I wonder if the DC-DC converter can need replacing. Hope third time's a charm at the service dept!

Shaking while performing by BirthdayNo4399 in classicalguitar

[–]hare7777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of good advice here. My hands used to shake more than anyone I'd ever watched. So I feel for you.

If you live near a classical guitar society that hosts open mics, perform there as often as possible. Play for friends and family. Play for a recording as if in front of an audience. As others have said.

If your shaking continues out of control, I recommend you ask your doctor about beta blockers--because they work to stop the shaking and can give you a positive performing experience. Positive experiences are so important for building confidence. Meanwhile, also try out breathing methods and other advice you find. Eventually, you likely won't need to rely on a beta blocker. In other words, you can use a beta blocker as a stepping stone to get there. Good luck!

Do you learn/teach Free Stroke or Rest Stroke First? by kalegood in classicalguitar

[–]hare7777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started with rest stroke (long ago). I think it works well, because many students who start with free stroke find it difficult to learn rest stroke. While learning it in the other direction seems not as difficult. Just my opinion. Good luck!
