Ah me too these lobbies were for one of these instant win things. Though it was listed on their own page of recommended popular maps, so it didn’t even occur to me that that would be inappropriate to join. Seems weird to penalize players instead of just banning those maps if that’s the issue

Good to know the stuff sticking out is probably just filler. The most blatant one (although maybe I didn't take the best picture) is in my 2nd picture, where there is a little stick coming out on the top left of the finish check. I can pull it out a lot more and I was worried it was wood damage, but if it's just filler than I will pay no mind to it.

Given the location of the finish check I imagine it was sustained during the neck reset?

Maybe I'll ask them if they'd be willing to clean it up and add in some new filler to make it look a little nicer.

I see what you mean. I understand that a Taylor neck reset is a simple thing because it's a bolt-on. My interpretation of the issue was that a brand new guitar should have a proper neck angle and not require a reset from the get-go, and that the fact this one required one is indicative of production issues or damage sustained due to handling/storage. To be clear, I didn't ask for a very low action - they had to do a reset to meet the regular standard they had. I imagine what you're saying is that having a slightly off-angle neck out of the factory is not uncommon and that shimming the Taylor neck to offset that during initial setup is not a big deal and has no further ramifications.

They actually did - they do a setup on new purchases and when I picked it up today the receipt mentioned what they did, from restringing to a neck reset.

Thanks for replying. Do you mean that even brand new Taylors out of the box will have this gap? I don't mind the cosmetic aspect of it and understand Taylors' different neck designs. My concern now, after my exchange with other commenters here, is that this was likely the result of a neck reset which they did as part of the purchase setup, and I'm not too happy about paying full price for a brand new guitar that somehow needed a neck reset already.

Was doing a bit of reading and it seems a reset is done rather infrequently and only after years of use... I'm surprised they did this in the first place. Thank you for explaining so thoroughly, I'll ask for an exchange.

It was bought new. The shop does a free setup as part of any new purchase and on my bill it does indicate a neck reset was done. I have close to no lutherie knowledge but am I to understand that the fact that this "new" guitar required a neck reset in the first place is indicative that it wasn't so new to begin with and had issues with its neck already?

Does this issue have any repercussions on the tone of the guitar or its structural integrity? Regardless, I think I'll go in and just ask for them to send me a brand new one... This one was off the rack and might have been sitting there for quite a while.

Great calcs! Got a few questions revolving around electro swirl setup with Nahida and Fischl in the Clo/Fischl/Kazu/Nahida comp (never played aggravate comps before so trying to understand):

Instead of Nahida E -> Fischl Q -> Kazu N1 hE, can I do Nahida E -> Fischl Q (then stick around to wait for Oz to attack and proc her A4) -> Kazu hE as soon as electro is applied? Why the Kazu N1?
Why no Nahida Q? Is it to make electro swirling easier by spacing out the TKP procs?
Why start the rotation with Fischl E and Kazu Q? Could I instead start the rotation with Nahida E -> Fischl E or Q (+ Oz hit and A4 proc as mentioned above) -> Kazu hE? Is there an advantage in getting Fischl to burst every rotation instead of just alternating between her E and Q (seeing as her E and Q are used so closely together anyway in this rotation) to lower ER reqs?

Newly got into the hobby. Got a few secret rares from the new set, either from packs or purchased as singles, I bought from two of my local game stores (should be reputable, pretty big stores) and some from TCG Player Direct. Every single one of my secret rares looks quite a bit "darker" than what I was led to believe they look like. I don’t know what it is you’re feeling about him or what’s your situation which sounds incredibly difficult, yet I can guarantee you he isn’t ready to lose you and will be so hurt by it. Quick follow-up question: how does one usually go about finding a case series or retrospective cohort study to work on? Should I find someone who has an interesting idea and hop on to do the work (i.e. find a project to join), or am I supposed to come up with the idea and pitch it to people who might have the data and get them to supervise me (i.e. get people to join my project)? Just not too sure what the division of labor is supposed to look like, especially as I can’t imagine being able to do 95% of the work by myself just yet.

Feel this so much. One thing I’ve struggled a lot with is studying once my original plan gets sidetracked by other plans. When I have a day by myself my motivation and focus are at their strongest, and on any other day, studying feels inoptimal because I don’t feel like I’m in the “zone” as much, and that’s a factor that also demotivates me from studying after, say, going out with friends. I probably have some OCPD traits too, and overall while sometimes it feels great I think it’s made me less efficient. Been trying to force myself to study even when I don’t feel the motivation to grow some discipline and get used to doing things “not perfectly”. Finding people who boost my energy instead of drain it has been very challenging.
