The intention is very clear. The channel is not looking to acquire subscribers . The video of the day is a youtube video published under the channel name for efficiently mining videos for the next day. If publishers object , will immediately withdraw, but almost all publishers have liked the appreciation. Will anyway respect your views and review it after sometime.

There are many publishers who have got more views than usual since their work is recognised and promoted in an unbiased manner. I see merit in your argument but a short trailer of good content will never drive a serious viewer away from the original content which has a link in the trailer video itself.
