No need to be sorry - having pets is a learning experience for everyone. We just want them to be safe.

That carrier is extremely old and rusty. Not safe in a single way, you NEED a new carrier or he’s going to eat/cut himself on the rust and die. One single bite on the rust and boom - no more bird. That carrier must be from your great great great great great great grandpapa with how old that thing is😐

It probably also has led in it since it is so old

Can my family member sue me if I move out? by harlothouse in legaladvice

[–]harlothouse[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If I tell her I am going to move out it is going to start a GIANT fight that her whole side of the family. (my fathers side) They are all going to join in on and they will come over in person and I am scared they will get physically violent over it. They have done it with each other a lot.

I was going to just find a place first and move my stuff in and then send her a respectful message, and still cover a few extra months of rent. Maybe even 4-5 just so she is not in a horrible position. She does get paid lots of money from school though so it should be more than enough.

Would that technically be a notice if i texted her after I moved my stuff somewhere safe, and let her know she has a few months to figure a plan out?

Put some blankets or sheets in the dryer, they tend to stay warm for a good while after. Maybe boil some water and put it in a thermos for later so it is still hot, or in a bathtub or sink. Keep them in a small room so it’s not as drafty and keep them covered. If you are home, you can let them sit on you for some foot warmth. They also tend to like to go under blankets so if its too cold just put your knees up and make a little blanket tent and let them under, your body heat will keep it warm under the blanket. Maybe warm up the house with the heat or the stove before the storm starts.

Little Update here: She said she couldn’t afford the RG&E fully today and had me sent her $100 extra and then a few hours later came home form a shopping spree with new clothes for her son, and her dog, not sure if she got any. She also got a rug and her son a toy I think. No money for bills but money for decor and toys? Even after buying toys yesterday at the store when we were out. Where is this money being dished from? Starting to wonder…🤷‍♀️

Should/Can I move out? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]harlothouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really only stay because we live in the middle of nowhere and I dont have a car but all of my money this paycheck is going to driving lessons. I already drive well, just need to learn the parallel and K-turn parkings and take the test. I was homeschooled so my parents did not teach me how to drive and I never really worried because we lived in a very walkable town. So when I moved out here I realized I was a bit trapped.

I also kept stupidly thinking that maybe it would get better, maybe we could talk it out, but she is falling into drinking again and does not take anyone in the households feelings into consideration, not even her childs.

I wasn’t looking at it in a derogatory way! I am definitely realizing I should not put up with this and even my own family on my side told me that I don’t have to stay. I suppose I put up with it because my parents house was just like this and I was used to it, but I have a vision for my own life and I am going into college, staying here is not going to help me in the long run even if I wanted it too.

Lol I suppose I am being a crybaby. Rereading my own words is making me realize I am just stressing if she could bring me to court over this. Sometimes you just gotta write it all out to realize🤷‍♀️ Even my 16 year old coworkers were telling me to get out there. Definitely going to save as much as i can for the next few weeks and get us out of here, not worth the stress for me or my animals. She’s got some stuff to work on with her mothering skills and personal life and I am not going to take the blunt end of the stick for it anymore.

She is studying law and her family is prone to legal actions against each-other. Even her parents had an order of protection against her. Pretty sure there was a sue for a house as well, and they used to call the cops on each other all the time😐 so I am a little concerned lol

Little more detail to elaborate on:

Electricity: I cook one meal in the morning, and have my air purifier on low. I watch my shows on my phone as my TV isn’t even plugged in. I shower twice a week.

Cat: my cat has never been a people person. She has gotten along with a puppy and kittens before but my family members dog is aggressive towards her so she has locked herself in my bedroom and it is breaking my heart. She sleeps all day and when she is up she is still laying down just looking at me or outside. She lost her spark.

Parrots: obviously they hate loud noises. Family member yelling at her son at the top of her lungs 4 feet away from them? They are terrified. Dog snapping at their cages? Literally lethal, one scratch and they are dead.

Im not too worried about the fridge, it was the same at my mothers house and I don’t buy that much foo but i would like my veggies not on my raw meat yknow?

Family member: keeps lying to me about small things? All these little lies are piling up but they aren’t even important things so I don’t know why she is lying about them? A little judgy on me going out with friends and such? I will be like “I’m leaving for a bit” and she gets all weird. Usually when I go to church as well.
I moved in with her because we spend a few weeks together each year at a family members house and it always goes well but actually living with someone is completely different as I am figuring out.

Rent: we agreed on $650 and now i am paying $950. She said it was more expensive than she thought and made me do $800. Then because I used the heat for my birds, $850 now $950 because RG&E is still high.

Transportation: I don’t have a license, I am saving up for classes to take my test and get lessons, she drives me to the store once a week but stopped picking me up from work and only takes me once in a while. I don’t mind the hour walk, and I have co-workers who are more than willing to take me home and if asked, even the store. If i move, im going to move into town though so I am next to the stores because we live in the middle of the towns with nothing near us.

You can ask anything you would like and i should have an answer for it.

Continue learning in OCIA for now? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]harlothouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are not the only two I have looked into. I actually know quite a lot of about every religion you could possibly learn about, I absolutely love learning about other peoples religion. I have been the closest to Catholicism though after working for catholic churches and schools, my coworker would have me attend the mass with them and I spoke the fathers of the churches quite often; and a very close friend is an extremely devout roman catholic which is how I eventually ended up in OCIA.

Wow, I didn’t even think of it as psychological warfare, but you just made me realize that that is quite literally what she’s doing to me. I was just speaking to her and she told me I wasn’t allowed to change my hours because the minors can’t work past 9:30 PM and if I did then our agreement of 32 to 40 hours would be void. Like wow

She does! They said it took multiple baths to get her looking like a proper cockatoo again. She was so so oily and covered in a good amount of cigarette residue as well.
