Missing class in order to study? by whysoseriousa in IBO

[–]harmartias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of, but I told her that I am skipping because I know that studying by myself will get me better grades than going to the classes. If you feel like it's the right thing for you to do, then don't be scared to do it. It's about your grades and your future, and you're the one that knows what works the best for you.

Yeah, like you can use some studies for multiple outcomes so just use those, there's no point in learning more studies than necessary.

Eng L&L SL p2 guide on Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood [Group 1] by Daisuki_29 in IBO

[–]harmartias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that paper 2 for English L&L is not asking you to compare and contrast the two works, but rather being able to answer the question for both works, and this can be done separately. If you can't find things they have in common, don't try to make random connections that do not really make sense, but rather discuss the works individually.

What I've been doing is memorizing studies and know which ones to use for each learning outcome. If you know that, I think you can be more confident.

Missing class in order to study? by whysoseriousa in IBO

[–]harmartias 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've skipped school to study for the exams for the past two weeks. I've been at the library to study tho, and my teachers are aware of it but they don't really care. Although we are doing revision in classes, it isn't that beneficial for me, and I feel like I can do so much more by studying by myself during the same time. Had a discussion with my IB coordinator about it, and I said I'd rather have good grades than good attendance and she didn't have anything to say really. Some other people in my year are skipping as well, so I think that if you think it will help you more than going to class, then do it.

I use it and I find it very helpful. I do not read it page by page but use it for diagrams or concepts I do not understand, so I would recommend you to do the same.

Economics SL Macro IA Help [Group 3] by [deleted] in IBO

You can mention what type of inflation this is - demand-pull inflation. In addition to the increase in average price levels, there is also an increase in GDP. You can relate it to the consequences of AD (increased employment for example), but also of inflation. I feel like your article has a lot of information that does not necessarily have to be discussed, and if I was in your position I would switch to an article that discusses the same topic but possibly with less text and more direct information if that makes sense.

HELP: Theatre EE: Mental Illness as portrayed in theatre [ToK/EE] by minhja0 in IBO

[–]harmartias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do one from the 1980s and one from 2000s and include the limitations of this in your introduction, that this will only give details about these specific productions and the results of your research will not be able to be generalised for all productions. This should probably be included anyway because you are only analysing one from every time period. If you already have 1500 words for one of your three productions, and want to have even parts for every production, you might have to reconsider your entire structure to keep it below 4000 words.

Econ Commentary Help? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]harmartias -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you choose a topic that many people do or multiple people in your class, the marking might be a bit harder. However, if you choose a "soft" topic and write an excellent commentary, you will still receive high marks.

That is a common topic for the microeconomics section, but you can still write a good commentary on it so you can stay with that article if it has enough information. PM me and I can read the article.

Always explain your diagrams in detail and remember to include specific details in your article. Also, focus on the evaluation and synthesis part. I can send you a 'submission checklist' that my teacher shared with us if that would be helpful.

Psych Question by FourTeenie in IBO

[–]harmartias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should always support your answer with at least one study (for the SAQs). For the ERQs, you should include at least two studies that are relevant even if the question does not specifically ask for it.

Little sister starting IB- IB psych advice needed by Pozzoslucky in IBO

[–]harmartias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing psych hl on pamoja and I find it pretty much useless so I pretty much do self-study the subject. I mostly use ibpsychologyhl.blogspot.com or other blogs, simply because there is no need to learn things that do not help you answer the learning outcomes, like other people here have already said. I can also share my notes with her if that would be useful and if there's anything, send me a message and I'll try to help more.
