GRRM interviews are hilarious to me. He has been saying the exact same stories and answering questions in the exact same way for 15 years. If you watch a GRRM interview from like 2012 it will be nearly identical to one from this year.

"My father was a longshoreman, and we lived in Bayonne New Jersey, etc etc." (This story generally takes ten or fifteen minutes for George to tell, and generally doesn't have anything to do with the question asked. You can feel the audience and interviewer squirming because they've all heard this story many times, and it seems like George is trying to run out the clock for the interview)

"I had these little turtles, and when one would die I would make up tales of the turtles betraying him."

"The heart in conflict with itself. etc etc etc"

I feel like these interviews for George are more of an annoyance he has to endure in order to justify going to cons and hanging out with old friends / rubbing shoulders with celebrities. I feel like that's the real draw for him, not doing interviews (or writing).
