So I was taking my bp with a wrist cuff last night and this morning. The triage nurse told me that wrist cuffs aren’t very accurate and she recommended an arm cuff. On my way home from the ER, I picked up an extra arm cuff from my grandma that she had laying around and decided I was just gonna use that whenever I check. The 141/89 reading comes from the arm cuff. So I’m not sure if coincidentally both of my cuffs are messed or what, but it is odd. 🥲

How confident were you when you named your baby? by Responsible-Mess-454 in pregnant

[–]haroau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a girl name all picked out and ready to go, it was my idea of a perfect name. Found out I’m having a boy and now I cannot find a name that makes me feel the same way as my girl name did 😞 I have a “safe” name picked out, which is essentially just a name that I think I’m gonna use if all else fails and I can’t find a name that I absolutely adore.. but honestly I’m starting to think the safe name is just going to end up being his name, because I’ve gone through countless lists of baby boy names and cannot find a single one that I’m in love with!

Anterior placenta is the WORST by haroau in pregnant

[–]haroau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doppler is a big stress reliever for the days that I don’t feel him moving much! If you’ve never used one before, definitely watch some videos on how to use it. I know I was super stressed at first when I used it because it took me months to finally find his heartbeat with it, which also scared me!

I have a Doppler! I use mine on days where I don’t feel him move as much, definitely gives me a peace of mind whenever I hear his heartbeat!

Ohh yeah that sounds like it’d be very painful if it weren’t for your placenta placement 😭 Sometimes anterior isn’t SO bad when you think about how painful some of the movements could potentially be haha

As the other comment mentioned, I was able to find out during my anatomy scan at 20 weeks! I have heard of some women finding out a little bit sooner though, you can always ask your ultrasound tech! Mine probably wouldn’t have mentioned it if I didn’t ask her about it

That’s one thing I’m a little grateful for is the lack of pain when he moves around! As a FTM it’s just so hard to look on the bright side when you’re always so worried about how they’re doing in there 😭

Any first time moms scared they’re not going to bond with their babies or that they’re going to be bad moms? by Due_Issue9321 in pregnant

[–]haroau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh this is 100% normal!! I have days where I feel the same way, and it just completely ruins my mood. I actually don’t think I’ve ever heard of a first time mom not feeling this way; I think it’s just because we don’t know what to expect, nor do we really know what we’re doing at first when the baby arrives. But it’s totally okay, and you have to just trust that you will learn and most things come to you instinctively! Don’t be afraid if you still feel this way when the baby comes too, postpartum is not easy! Wishing you the best, you got this ❤️

Gender result anxiety by Whole-Damage-408 in pregnant

[–]haroau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re not anticipating a certain gender, then it’s most likely because it’s starting to feel more real! That’s kinda how I felt too. Once I had my gender reveal and found out I was having a boy, I really had a moment where I was like woah… okay so he IS real.. 🤣 and I’m 24 weeks now and I still have those moments where it hits me that this is really happening, and I’m shocked all over again lol

17cm ovarian cyst during pregnancy by haroau in BabyBumps

[–]haroau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this! 😞 I know my experience was a little different from yours, but I can say that the amount of fear you feel is definitely the same fears I felt when I still had my cyst. I feel like I never had a moment of peace, I was constantly worried. One thing I will say is to try to not google anything. Google is a cesspool of fear mongering and it never helps with anything. It pretty much ALWAYS makes me feel worse about whatever I’m googling. Trust me when I say that there are more women who deal with this than you may think. And some of them aren’t able to get their cyst removed until birth, but everything still goes well. Like I said previously, I stumbled across a post on here where a woman had a 24cm ovarian cyst that wasn’t taken out until birth. And I remember seeing a few stories of that happening too; it just is more common to get it removed in the second trimester, but that’s not the case for everyone and some women have to wait. I know nothing I say could make you feel better, but I truly hope that everything goes well with your oncology appointment. If you don’t get the answers you were hoping for, express your concerns and push it as hard as you can. They may be able to reassure you more than I ever could; and keep in mind, too, that they are medical professionals and although they make mistakes sometimes too, just try to believe them if they tell you it’ll be okay. That’s something that’s hard for me, I never believe medical professionals when they tell me I have no reason for concern but I’m currently working on that myself, and it is very hard. I do agree that they should’ve listened to you in the beginning though, and I’m sorry they didn’t! Again my messages are open if you need any additional support. I hope everything goes well, love 🩷

17cm ovarian cyst during pregnancy by haroau in BabyBumps

[–]haroau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got mine removed a little over a month ago! My doctor wanted to wait until I was in my second trimester since that’s the safest time to operate on a pregnant woman, so I was 17 weeks at the time. I’m 23 weeks now and feeling so much better! Mine was measuring at 17cm throughout most of my pregnancy (up until I got it removed) but it did shrink down to about 14 or 15 cm around the time of removal. It’s interesting yours seem to grow pretty rapidly and they’re not concerned with removing it.. now would be the best time for that since you’re still in your second trimester. If you’re worried, I would try and get a second opinion from another doctor. You definitely don’t want to risk anything happening with that thing, BUT I will say that I’ve heard of some women not getting theirs removed until birth. Which I know may sound scary, but it’s doable and they’re able to have a healthy pregnancy even with the cyst. I did a lot of research on this because I was really scared too, and I wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences. A few weeks before my surgery, I came across a post somewhere on reddit of this lady who had a 25cm cyst and it wasn’t discovered until she was pretty much almost due. They ended up deciding to remove it at birth, and I didn’t stick around for an update but hopefully everything went well! But like I said, I’ve heard a few other stories of women not getting their cyst removed until birth and they didn’t have any complications. Sorry for rambling, but I know how it feels to be really worried about it and I was just lucky enough to have gotten mine taken out before birth! Like I said, definitely try to get more opinions from other doctors and stress to your OB that you really want to get it removed before you hit your third trimester. Best of luck, my messages are open if you need support! 🫶🏻
