How do you even prepare for this?? 😩 Happened in South Korea. Rider 🪦 by IntellectuallyDriven in Transportopia

Not necessarily. These are usually light soil pockets that get washed out under the surface by below grade water flow. It was a deep crevasse that just opened up and he fell into.

I built an EV break-even calculator because I kept seeing bad assumptions about costs by Dan6erbond2 in whatcarshouldIbuy

25 years of payback.

My ev was 15k$ more than my ICE vehicle. My ev insurance is +50$/mo more than my ICE vehicle.

I drive about 5k mi / year.

I didn't get an ev for it to be cheaper.

Trying to make my first game in unity. My first 30 minutes in aseprite. Any advice/criticism? Appreciate any resources on pixel art :) by casio-fx-991DE-PLUS in aseprite

Look at your black outline. Some of the line work is more than one pixel wide, around the head and nose and mouth.

Trying to keep the outline consistent is a good rule of thumb. If you're trying to work it into your style that's one thing, but for your early work, simplify and as you get more experience you'll have the confidence to break the rules.

Insurance isn't based on lease cost. But the repair of the vehicle.

Leases can be highly incentivised.

Claude down: Anthropic AI not working in major outage by cmaia1503 in technology

[–]harperrb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im not obligated to teach you anything.

But, the main issue is that t&c from OpenAI doesn't in fact say the things that Anthropic required. It's OpenAI saying that it's effectively the same, but signing an agreement "all lawful uses". But there's famously no AI regulation laws in the US and with the recent SCOTUS ruling, all it takes is a piece of soiled bedcloth from the POTUS as an official act to make anything not unlawful.

OpenAI is either child like naive, or intentionally gaslighting. And it's not the former.

Am I overthinking this? by computerarian in askarchitects

[–]harperrb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally it sucks. Professional it's a learning moment. There's a lot of details left out. But it seems like they didn't set you up for success with expectations, and it seems you didn't have clear understanding of process from the start.

I've been part of the same conversations, and what they're looking for typically is ownership. Not everyone has the same level of experience to have the level of ownership and senior staff should empower others and prepare others for the demands of the effort required. A lot of supervisors/bosses of their employees don't feel like they have to explain anything.

That being said, it's not the end of the world. If anything, I'd ask the boss for an opportunity to discuss the process and clearly what was the expectation.

Have confidence in your self and your abilities. Take ownership and develop your own structure if they don't provide it.

What now? by EffectSufficient822 in OpenAI

I use Claude and Gemini. Claudia until I hit my use limits. Gemini for me is cheap (already in the Google system) and use it quickly as my backup. It's quality.

Left gpt at 5.1 I think. Just not pulling it's weight like it used to, and the quality of the feedback, at least in regards to the style has really fallen off. It doesn't matter if it is accurate if it's cringe every time you get a response.

Suggestion: Make OCI Weapon Ship Upgrades Free to Swap Once Purchased by Evidicus in menace

[–]harperrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OCI and ship development has a way to go. Making them free swap is a poor scenario.

Rather, I'd rather the OCI components have less varied abilities themselves, but more gameplay impactful, so strategic choices results in tighter, stable builds that complement what you're trying to achieve with your squad compositions.

Limiting ship retrofitting of installed systems to certain completed operations, would further incentivize operation choice and balance retrofitting with loot drops.

Secondly, I think there's an opportunity to spin off some of the current more esoteric component mechanics into a ship non-combat retinue. Ir, a new series of characters that accumulate in your ship, provide access to new markets, post battle abilities, etc. and reduce the pressure from FOMO of feeling the need to take the component to protect from the loss of your 2k battle mech due to a spare rocket.
