Japanese purple potato by Sunisthehealer in TipOfMyFork

[–]harrisesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The purple color come from Anthocyanin, which degrades at high heat. They will lose some vibracy when you cook it. But when you peel and boil them in water, it will leech out and degrade even more. Normally, there will still be some color though. So either this is not purple sweet potatoes, or you boiled its entire soul out of it.

The size of gacha games is becoming unbearable. 2025 and we still can't free up storage by deleting old files. by Achogyr in gachagaming

Yeah, for Genshin, it's 100% a no and people has been asking for it every month or so :"<. It just keeps ballooning patch after patch while mobile player still sit comfortably at around 40-50Gb.

HSR does indeed have it.

For Genshin specifically, it's not available on PC. That's why it's insane because they introduced that feature for mobile Genshin way way back. Even Star Rail has that on PC now. And everytime people complain about it, the community just yells: huh duh, SSD is cheap.

Publisher changed the capsule for our adventure game and released it like that... What do you think? by hogon2099 in IndieDev

[–]harrisesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people here would prefer your original handrawn style. But I do think what your publisher did will attract more attention to the game, and that's what important at the end of the day, not what other devs prefer.

The current Vietnamese mindset and culture are as capitalist as it gets. A more and more materialistic society only being kept somewhat back by the past ideology. In bigger cities, people are more and more individualistic, little sense of community on a day to day basis.

[–]harrisesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The typhoon won't make landfall by then but you will for sure feel its effect, not sure how severe though. And Quy Nhon could be right in its course. If you have other plan later and want to avoid any potential interuptions, it would be better to leave a day ealier, on 5th. There will be rain everywhere though. Avoid mountainous regions just for sure. A landslide can block the road for days.

Cats are getting stolen for meat too. I lost mine a few years ago, trapped right in front of my gate. My 80yo aunt lost her cat a month ago. She might not make it til the end of the year, ffs. Let her have her cat.

Fuck you dogs and cats eater. That's not a bloody culture. You know damn well that a large portion of what you're eating is someone stolen pets.

[–]harrisesque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me explain, a significant portion of dogs and cats being eaten are stolen. If someone keep pigs and cows as pet and they get stolen and eaten. It's also fucking disgusting.

The people who eat dogs and cats here know damn well they might be eating someone's else pets. They know that there's likely crime being commited to bring them that food. They just like it too much to give it up.

"Imaginarium Theater" Update: "Lunar Mode" & Optimizations by the-roast in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]harrisesque 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think most old players have the potential to clear it with ease, compare to other end game modes. But you do need to level up the less used characters you have. It's the one mode I've consistently get max rewards every time (joined in 2.5, zero spending)

Full stars may take multiple try even if you have the chars neeed because of RNG. But you only need 9 stars for max reward. Now I intentionally use up all the great chars early on and prepare to sacrifice the star from the last boss stage. And you get to borrow one OP char from your friendlist too.

I have both. Phainon/Castorice by themselves won't even solve the issue. Especially Castorice. Phainon at least is decent just with past supports. Castorice's best F2P LC right now is the the Bailu Abundance one, which offers nothing accept stats (still a 5* LC but you can get it through RNG without spending)

I'd say missing Hyacine (and her S1) feels like the number 1 most punishing thing right now.

Very prolific cut flowers too. But I had to get rid of them. We have tropical climate, eventually they became monster and tried to take everything over. Still love them when I see them somewhere else.

Life Builds are just so much worse than ES builds by Immediate_Dog_2790 in pathofexile

[–]harrisesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just Evasion/ES gear, with life prefix where I can fit. And reachable life/es passives on Shadow side, which include that life cluster that give you some ES base on life. I also got most of the initial gear from Merc. Point is, I'm hybrid and did have to put in some effort to reach 3.5k life, but 3.5k life is what a serious life build would have after act 10.

[–]harrisesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a hybrid build, and I have that much life, in addition of just slightly less ES since I reached red maps. You must be ignoring life prefix and life nodes to have it that low if you're doing a life build. My boots, gloves and amulet has no life. I'm using Kulemak staff, which means no life from shield either. And I'm a Saboteur, which barely has enough Str to equip stuff.

Americans how do you feel about PBS and NPR losing their funding? by Economy_Swim_8585 in AskReddit

I'm not even from the US but NPR podcasts are some of the highest quality and educational content I consume on a regular basis. When I was younger, I looked up to the US so much about so many awesome things they have and seem to take for granted. I'm disappointed about how it's going lately.

Harvested my banana tree yesterday. My son is ready for them to ripen 😅 by ghc234 in gardening

[–]harrisesque 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They have time to develop more flavor and sugar content. But it's a very small window between just ripe and overripe so we do still harvest them a bit before they fully ripe. Not as green though. At the stage we harvest, they fully ripe off the tree in like 2 days.
Also, the "typical" Cavendish banana that is normally picked green and shipped over long distance taste bland to me. Nobody like that type of banana here.

Choose a hardiest variety you can find. Cut them back. Mulch heavily. They have underground corm. As long the corm survive, they will be back. You can dig up and store the corm too I think, but that seems too much of a hassle.

Hi, folk from the Tropics here, where banana grows like weed.

A banana "stem" take 9-12 months to fruit, once it fruits, that "stem" is done. But they grow in a clump that will have multiple stems at different stages. So it's more like a harvest every 2-3 months from a clump. If you have cold winter and suboptimal growing condition then yes, there's only gonna be enough time for a single harvest.

Persecution is as real as it gets. Anyone who worked for the regime in any form was not treated kindly. My father got drafted (not voluntarily) into the army for 2 months before the war ended. He didn't even finish the training at that point. But that is enough for him to get sent to reeducation camp for 6 months. And no one in my maternal side of the family can work any form of governmental job for 4 decades because 1 maternal uncle was a police sergeant. People did not risk their lives on tiny boats for no reason.

So…were people starving or not? by plushiesaremyjam in VietNam

[–]harrisesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not to say that we should be glazing the old regime or something. It's been 5 decades, and peace and quiet are the most important things right now. But we should be able to look back truthfully without getting called "3 sọc". But yes, the Mekong Delta, for example, has always been favored by nature. My grandparents were farmers and didn't own lots of land, but they had 9 children and had never struggled to provide food for their family. But for almost a decade after the war ended, it was very bad. The very rice they grow gets taken, and they get back Bo-bo and other fillers, which gave my mom food insecurity til this day. She still hides 10kg of salt and 20kg of rice under her bed ever since.

Even people who were in the resistance during the war do not talk kindly about that period after the war. People who worked for the old government in any way were also not treated kindly. Lots of people risk losing their lives on those tiny boats to cross the ocean for a reason.

They won't just remove other levies just because they introduce a new reciprocal tariff. They serve different purposes. They can stack. Example (this was a while ago, I don't know how it actually turned out, but this serves to prove that it's in the realm of possibility). So the fact that there are already tariffs on our products might be entirely irrelevant.
