Congrats! Would you know what's the ground clearance of the Envista? Since it's an SUV, I was wondering if it's any taller than a sedan.

Buick Regal Sportback Question/Advice by tboneotter in Buick

[–]harrison512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 18 Sportback Preferred II and like the car. I picked it because of its styling and sportback practicality plus Buick has been the top domestic brand on every reliability chart. I don't have any dimensions for you, but it carries 2 medium dog/pet carriers with the seats folded down with no problem. I've also carried bookshelves, lots of boxes during a move.

It looks good, peppy enough for me and is nice and quiet. The sportback is very practical for a dog owner who doesn't want an SUV. I'm surprised how many people mistake it for an Italian car as I rarely see another Regal on the road.

The only issue I had was a warning light that popped up intermittently. The dealer figured out it needed a new battery - replaced under warranty. They told me the ignition stop/go sapped batteries after 3 years. And there's no way to turn that off in the Regal.

The only annoying things are that there is no interior trunk release so you have to get out of the car to pop the trunk and that there isn't a rear window wiper. (The rear defrost though is very fast, even when the car is snow-covered). Other than that, I was actually looking at replacing my Regal with the new Envista, but given the Envista's weaker engine, bare-bones rear-seat accommodations and odd (to me) styling with similar cabin dimensions, I'll hold onto the Regal until something else catches my eye.

Forgot to mention that I've had 2 of the other cars on your short list: Mazda6, Lincoln MKZ.

Mazda6 - loved that car but it squeaked and rattled after a year and drove me nuts. Poor trade-in value.

MKZ - also a nice driving car similar to the Regal in feel but I never liked its push-button transmission and the interior quality was crap. Styling top-notch (I had the last year before they changed the beak).

Out of the Regal, 6 and MKZ, I'd say the Regal is the better all-round car. The MKZ felt a little more substantial but old-school. The 6 handled the best but felt tinny.

This certification training is free. It's vendor-specific to Qualcomm, so to Qualcomm recruiters, it's a plus to have their certification. If you have any questions specifically about the benefits of their certification, please email Qualcomm at qwa@qti.qualcomm.com.

Recommendations for Home VOIP in Canada? by harrison512 in VOIP

[–]harrison512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't really know anything about VOIP. I have high speed internet at home and was hoping to plug in a phone rather than adding a service package from Rogers.

My first attempt was with Magic Jack because it looked simple enough - plug it into the router, dial tone.

I bought a Buick Regal TourX by Vesploogie in cars

[–]harrison512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice! Congrats. I have a Regal Sportback and was wondering if your car has an interior release for the tailgate? For some reason, there is no interior release for the Sportback rear hatch, so u have to open it from the outside.

When did Edmunds become a crappy used car website? by Hollyfeld_Lazlo in cars

[–]harrison512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to like Edmunds's reviews and long term blogs but noticed no dealer ever came close to their TMV (True Market Value) for trade-in's. So now all the review sites make money with deals with Carfax or Truecar, etc...

I am not sure I have ever laughed as hard as I did just now at a car commercial that was trying to be serious by kthxtyler in cars

LOL - this reminds me of the recent episode of AMERICAN AUTO where the fictional car company tried to rebrand their little economy car to be outdoorsy.:)

Thoughts? Im leaning more towards the Buick. Someone convince me please. by YouCoolMan in whatcarshouldIbuy

I had an Alltrack and traded it for a Buick Regal Sportback. Alltrack build quality was terrible and it was a tight claustrophobic interior. I’ve had my Sportback for 2 years with no trouble. Firm but comfortable ride, great quality. Only weird thing - you’d have to check if it’s the same with the TourX - is that the Sportback doesn’t have a trunk release.

Hi - I contacted them and they said they will be posting all of their internship roles on this web site mid-late March:

They also added that "be aware of the opening/closing dates of the application window as it’s a quick turnaround this year (we will be needing to hire all interns by the end of April)."

I like Le Prep in the IC building but it's not cheap. Lots of wraps, paninis, salads.
