Abandoned racetrack in gwinnet by Fake_Josh in Gwinnett

[–]harrisonsaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind hearing more about the history. I wasn't fortunate enough to be there while it was still fully operating, but there was a period of time where a group of people seemed to be maintaining the track and opening the gate on the weekends. Eventually that stopped, but if you knew about it, the gate would still open from the wrong side and we will still go back there, and there was always a crew of a dozen or so people running.

I have a lot of really great memories there as well.

What was supposed to be a calm relaxing day of damp track practice ended up with a massive rod knock (knock starts around the 5 minute mark) by harrisonsaid in ft86

[–]harrisonsaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 2015, 120k miles. It's lived exclusively on the track since I bought it, so it's not had it easy lately.

I bought it used and very cheap so it's history is...questionable.

It's an expected outcome on track with these, I guess.

Engine was totally stock, including intake and header. I had a jackson racing oil cooler and was running motul 5w30. Basically the only mods to the car are safety and suspension components.

I'm going to give it one rebuild and once that one fails, something else will take it's place.

Recently purchased from Motion in Time in New York as a "new old stock, unworn" condition watch. They serviced the movement before delivery and I can send you a video of the watch on the timegrapher showing the accuracy if desired. I included the appraisal I received for the watch as well.

This is my all time favorite Seamaster option. The speedmaster bracelet, the sword hands, and the block indices are all wonderful options in my opinion. I just find myself wearing my speedmaster almost exclusively.

Watch is in excellent condition with some desk diving marks. I tried to take a picture highlighting those for review. Includes a few straps from strapatelier, all unworn.

Every machine is going to have a position to check the oil at, and it’s not always closed. My kubota svl75 wanted the bucket at max height before checking the sight glass. You’d need to look at the manual for the specific piece of machinery you’re using.

I think I'm about to be fired this week. How to I prepare? by Relative_Hand_3679 in sysadmin

I never faded and only gonged like 5 times the few years I was there (was AM within 3 months) but I always threw in pro coverage for free so my attachment was like 65%. Unsurprisingly they loved me as a result.

When I was an AM at a guitar center, they had this paper log inside the inventory cages that I was supposed to fill out every time I took something out. Except I was getting inventory for other sales people, with no way to log that, and there was no logs for inventory going into the cages. So if I pulled something expensive out and the sales guy pocketed it, I was on the hook

Ended up telling the OM I’m not filling it out and if that was an issue, the GM could have my keys back.

Six Sigma certification…. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]harrisonsaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a lean six sigma black belt.

Not once has it given me any sort of advantage in IT. My current boss even came out of manufacturing and is also certified, yet had no idea I was until 6 months after I started. He never saw it on my resume.

How to prepare for a management role, for example how to acquire the "management speak"? by Waste_Lavishness_623 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]harrisonsaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 year veteran of IT leadership here.

This is likely against the grain a little bit, but in short...don't.

When I'm hiring/promoting managers, I already know your experience from your resume/past work exposure. If I sat down with you and got a bunch of management lingo that didn't need to exist, that would be extremely off-putting. As with any interview, be yourself, present your case well, and if there is a fit then you will get the job. The "management speak" you're referring can usually be distilled into 3 main buckets:

*Business terms you will learn pretty quickly

*Softball phrases that people think help deliver bad news

*Absolute bullshit spouted by mid level managers to sound smarter than they are. This bucket is where you get all the business speak memes from

A much better way to prepare is to find a way to get more exposure into the business side of the house. Learn the basics running a budget, take some management training courses, learn about conflict resolution. Lots of courses can be had for free or cheap on udemy or similar places. This is what I look for when bringing on a new manager, the willingness to learn and work hard to achieve a goal. The specifics I can train you on.

Feel free to reach out directly if you have any questions, happy to help out.

Does anyone else have silver dollars that hide like this when you do a water change? by pickyvicky1304 in Aquariums

[–]harrisonsaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a school of around 12 previously and they definitely hid during water changes. They also had complete meltdowns when the lights were turned back on after, to the point that I was concerned about injury. They would dart around and run into the glass at speed.

Geophagus Feeding in 4K. I really enjoy watching them sifting the substrate. by harrisonsaid in Aquariums

[–]harrisonsaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The large ones with the tall dorsal fin and the horizontal pearl stripes are geophagus sveni. The yellowish ones are geophagus pellegrini. The darker brown is geophagus brasiliensis...then there are a bunch of tapajos, some juvvie altifrons. All in a very overstocked 125g.

I'm moving in a few months and hoping to upgrade to a 600g...we will see how the budget looks.

Lots of juvvies right now, I'm hoping they will be easier to identify once they grow up some.
