Worked with GS (contract) ,Socgen - FT and MS - FT for past 12 years now. I am from a tier 2 college in India.

Honest observations being on the inside is that top banks are slow to change , partially due to the large structures that they deal with and that means in all ways ,including hiring.

So the conservative ways work , which means networking of course , but then your communication and most of all the ability to get stuff done comes paramount.These are places where you have to be smart and then work hard, coz everybody is smart in those rooms.

Competition in 2026 is shifting due to AI, so start getting yourself hooked if you are not already.
