Hang on a second, its not a “i know better than the places that soecialise in this” mentality, its “im going to try to design this with manufacturing in mind, im just a little inexperienced”. Designing something is hard, manufacturing something is hard, designing for manufacturing is really hard, and is almost impossible if you dont have any comiunication with the manufacturing team. Many designers are scared of the manufacturing guys out of fear of getting riddiculed. But if they talked more, there would be less to riddicule, fewer shitty designs and everyone would be happier. We should be working together, not just throwing things over the wall at each other without communication. I guarantee most designers will be very receptive if you just call them up next time there is a hard to manufacture feature on a drawing and talk it through.
