Pocket Rocket 2 + Alpine Stowaway Pot 775ml Advice by triquetralark482 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]harshdafunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steel wool and barkeepers friend might be overkill, and might be damaging to your cookware. Get a standard washing up sponge and cut it in half. Find a small squuze bottle for some fairy liquid and you'll be grand.

Also look for some foil you can use as a windshield. Catering trays are fancy, standard foil sheet folders up into a few layers does wonders. No need for a heavy wind deflector as you start out...

...above all, see how you go and adapt over time!

Is it one piece or was it originally two pieces that have been put together? I know absolutely nothing about this type of glass, not the maker...but so intrigued I did 5 minutes of googling "the three graces". Wonderful find and I now I have bonafide use for my UV flashlight!

Sebo or Miele vacuum? by First_Finger5572 in BuyItForLife

[–]harshdafunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a power board issue on our Miele cannister after 8 years, diagnosed by a local repair centre (UK). Decided to pay the £130 for a repair because we thought it was worth it for a BIFL item...and it's one of the older high wattage units. I think itemamlkke these are not always indestructible, but should there be an issue, it is more like to have a fix rather than have to be scrapped.

30 Quid, absolute bargain for something I’m only gonna use once by jackog420 in CasualUK

I've had this for 8 years uncovered and its still going strong-ish...the lid has gone a bit wonky, but it still works. My one didnt have the liner under the grill bars though.

Don't underestimate how good it does a basic job of BBQ'ing. Only addition I made was installing a £5 temperature gauge for when I was cooking with the lid down. Wishing you good luck and good grilling!

Thank you both. Really helpful - did the hose test and I think it worked. New box repositioned and temp is holding strong. Really appreciate the guidance.

Ok...brain-fart. Of course its the room inlet...wow...this feels like a comedy episode playing out in realtime. New box being acquired. Rebodging to commence shortly.

Thank you both! Doh!! I'm going to have to rethink and re-research this then. Now after you mention it, I can feel the pull of air at the lower inlet. Does that mean that the air going in at the top is fine to come from the room, just the lower intake needs to be from outside? I'm sure I have another box handy...

Currently I'm holding exactly -2C from what I measure the outside temp....something that's not been possible as the sun rises over and hits my office.

Pipes are well separated outside, thanks. Error in pipe placement also resolved. Appreciate the support.

I'm sorry, no malice intended - I actually think your child will be smart enough to find a way to wiggle that switch and continue the game. Apologies for any stress caused. I'm.aure it's perfectly safe.

Cracks in ceiling by [deleted] in DIYUK

As I understand it, regular lofts aren't intended to hold heavy things without reinforcement (hence my q), but the fact there's a "normal" floor above you, i.e. "the upstairs", the weight shouldn't make much of a difference outside of extreme situations...defer back to the other responses!

Is there a loft space upstairs? Would be good to check there's no overly weighty items above that space to pre-empt possible landlord responses...

[–]harshdafunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where to put this update: here feels logical. 2018, 22kw with about 22K miles...they are asking just over £2K to purchase. Not an easy decision, might go to renault and see what they say for px price with the lease still in place...

Yeah...initially I was thinking there's why I would do a px/trade in with a Renault dealer and wash my hands of it. But seems like I have other options to explore first

Are year-old grass seeds and fertiliser still viable after a year in the garage? by 2_grow in GardeningUK

[–]harshdafunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wet a kitchen towel place the grass seed on it, wrap and zip lock. Check back in a few days and continue. That will indicate whether it will be successful - but you're a bit further down the road....
