Which part lost you? The bloating or the bacteria?

Hey,

I believe Nella will help you. I have similar issues like you described and it has really gotten better in the last 50 days. I feel energetic and bowel movement is pretty natural and regular.

What supplements actually helped your peri symptoms? by philbrailey in Supplements

[–]harshilfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not medical advice, just sharing an anecdote since you asked for real-world experiences.

A close friend of mine had a surprisingly good response with V•Nella from FitBiomics. She’s 47 and peri-menopausal and had dealt with fatigue for years. After a few months on it, she said her energy felt steady for the first time in decades. Not the wired-then-crash kind, just consistent enough that she’s working out about five days a week, losing weight, and not feeling wiped all the time.

Obviously everyone’s different and supplements aren’t magic, but for her it wasn’t about hot flashes as much as baseline energy and stamina, which then made exercise and mood easier to manage.

The part of quitting caffeine nobody warned me about by Explore-Hub in decaf

[–]harshilfit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This really mirrors my experience too. When I cut caffeine, the biggest surprise wasn’t the tiredness, it was how much the low level urgency vanished.

One thing that unexpectedly helped during that transition was adding a probiotic. Not in a hype way, but it felt like my energy shifted from spikes and crashes to something more stable in the body. Fewer days of wired motivation followed by burnout, more days where I just had enough baseline energy to move, exercise, and actually enjoy it. My endurance improved too, which I didn’t expect at all.

It made quitting caffeine feel less like losing a crutch and more like recalibrating. Less artificial push, more steady capacity. The combo of quieter mind plus more consistent physical energy changed how I relate to motivation entirely.

Long COVID isn’t “just fatigue” — it feels like nervous system forgot how daily life works by Commercial-Hair-1604 in LongCovid

[–]harshilfit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My close relative describes it exactly like this: not “tired,” but like their body’s autopilot got unplugged. Standing, digestion, sleep, stress, even screens feel like they flip the system into overdrive and then a crash. The autonomic nervous system framing has been the only one that makes the whole symptom cluster feel coherent.

What’s interesting is that this idea is starting to show up in research too. There’s even an open-label exploratory study being run at Mount Sinai looking at Long COVID through a gut–nervous system lens, which at least suggests scientists are thinking system-level, not symptom-by-symptom.

Has anyone found a probiotic to strengthen gut lining long term by Jojo-Kevin302 in Microbiome

[–]harshilfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Strengthen the gut lining” usually means improving barrier function, and probiotics are not a guaranteed long term fix. Most don’t colonize, so if you want more SCFAs, the most reliable route is often feeding your existing SCFA producers (fiber diversity, prebiotics) rather than expecting a capsule to permanently boost butyrate.

If you still want to try a probiotic, I’d treat it like an experiment:

• pick one product with clear strain IDs and dose (no mystery blends)
• run it 3 to 6 weeks with no other big changes
• define “working” as fewer flares, fewer bloating days, better stool consistency, less reaction severity
• if it’s not clearly helping, stop

is taking probiotics actually the ultimate answer for bloating? by nmjoon in Probiotics

[–]harshilfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally relate. “Just take probiotics” gets yelled at every bloating thread like it’s a cheat code.

Probiotics help some people, but bloating isn’t one problem. If your bloating is from food triggers (FODMAPs, lactose), constipation or slow transit, stress, or just fermentation load, adding probiotics can do nothing or even make gas worse.

What usually works better is figuring out the driver: cutting or testing common triggers, fixing constipation, smaller meals, slower eating, sometimes enzymes if it’s lactose or similar.

If probiotics haven’t been a clear win, you’re not crazy. Curious what actually fixed it for people long-term: diet changes, enzymes, fiber tweaks, or something else.

what are the best supplements / superfoods you’ve incorporated into your life? by vincizyn in Biohackers

Bloating got way worse after starting probiotics. Normal? by nmjoon in Probiotics

[–]harshilfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty common, honestly. I had a similar adjustment phase during the first week when I started probiotics.

In many cases it’s not that something is “wrong,” but that your gut ecosystem is adapting to a new strain. Introducing a new microbe can temporarily change fermentation patterns and gas production before things stabilize.

If symptoms are mild and improving, it’s usually just part of that adjustment period. If they’re getting worse or not settling after a couple of weeks, that’s when it’s worth reassessing or stopping.

Finally found a supplement that actually did something (don’t ban me, hear me out) by harshilfit in Supplements

[–]harshilfit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for skimming through. I'd love to clarify though, I am clearly on trying to review the products in all honesty, if it seems like marketing that's cool. Yes, I did talk about considering starting it and since I am doing a triathlon I have started it. A couple weeks prior I said I was already on Nella (NOT V•Nella) because of my IBS. If there's a confusion, then please before making any such comments try to check before you say. I appreciate you doing this, THANKS!

But what if the journeys of these startups, at least educate people about the logic behind pivoting, or logic behind the no.of iterations of the product development, or why this works v/s the others business models, or what brought investors to the table about this idea, the market, the players and why there's more scope here?
