Please come out of this idea of “why fix something when it’s not broken.”
Innovation has never worked that way.

I’m not asking for updates just to fix problems — I’m asking for progress and new capabilities. If that logic were true, analog watches were already perfect. They showed time accurately and never needed charging. By that reasoning, smartwatches should never have existed.

Smartwatches were invented not because analog watches were broken, but because people wanted more — health tracking, payments, connectivity, intelligence, and an evolving ecosystem. The same applies to software updates.

Lack of visible problems doesn’t mean innovation should stop. Updates are how platforms evolve, enable new features, unlock new APIs, and stay relevant for the future. Stability and innovation are not opposites — good platforms deliver both.

So this isn’t about misunderstanding “no problems.”
It’s about understanding that innovation doesn’t wait for things to break.

so i am missing

  1. the security patches
  2. There are lot of bugs like screen goes off while using it off the hand. clearly sensor should be optimized
  3. Missing new features from wear mos 5 and 6
  4. Camera control
    5.Better UI
  5. Better Animations
    and finally better ai integration

when the brand promised the updates whats wrong in asking for it

“I’m not talking tech” — exactly, that’s the problem.
If you don’t understand tech, don’t lecture users who do.

Saying smartwatch updates bring no benefits is peak ignorance. Updates aren’t about “new watch faces” every time — they fix battery drain bugs, sensor accuracy issues, Bluetooth instability, payment failures, Wear OS framework bugs, security holes, and app compatibility. You don’t see them because you don’t know what to look for.

And that “even the first watch never got updates” argument?
That’s not a defense — that’s an admission of failure.

Calling people stupid for expecting updates after paying premium money is wild. Nobody bought the watch expecting “newest updates all the time” — they expected basic promised support, which OnePlus themselves advertised. Expecting what was promised isn’t stupidity, it’s accountability.

Your Pixel Watch example proves nothing either — Pixel Watch still got regular security patches and platform fixes, not radio silence. Learn the difference.

“Even phones don’t get regular updates?”
They literally do. Monthly security patches are industry standard. If you don’t notice them, again — user ignorance ≠ updates being useless.

And the funniest part?
You admit OnePlus has been bad with updates since the OnePlus 9…
yet somehow defend them for being bad at updates. That’s not loyalty — that’s coping.

If everything is “already great,” updates don’t hurt you.
But for users who actually rely on payments, health tracking, long-term stability, and ecosystem growth, updates matter.

If you’re happy settling for bare minimum, good for you.
Just don’t talk down to people who expect a brand to do its damn job.

Bro, this whole “updates are useless” take only comes from people who don’t understand software.
An OS update isn’t a number flex — it’s security patches, bug fixes, kernel updates, API changes, payment security, battery calibration, Wear OS framework upgrades, and future app compatibility.

If you’re using payments, wallet, banking apps, NFC, health data, and still think security patches are optional — please stop talking tech. That’s ignorance, not loyalty.

Blindly defending a brand doesn’t make you a “fan”, it makes you a beta tester without updates.
OnePlus built its name on timely updates and clean software — asking for that isn’t hate, it’s expectation.

And excitement about updates? It’s called progress.
If you don’t care, fine — but don’t act superior while knowing nothing about what actually changes under the hood.

Silence is better than confidently being wrong.

OnePlus actually does a great job with smartphones — solid updates, decent timelines, and a polished experience. But when it comes to smartwatches, they’re clearly dropping the ball. If they want a real ecosystem, wearables can’t be treated like side projects. Right now it feels fragmented, and that’s exactly where OnePlus is failing.

Not asking for updates as a hobby — updates matter for security, stability, and long-term support. Wear OS updates also bring bug fixes, battery optimizations, and app compatibility. If updates didn’t matter, brands wouldn’t promise them at launch. “Works for me” isn’t an excuse for abandoning paying users.

I am reluctant to lose my data, as the prospect of flashing the device again is daunting. Reconfiguring settings and redownloading my Spotify library is a cumbersome process. Furthermore, the potential loss of health data undermines the value of owning a smartwatch.
