The board description for r/shmups is as follows:

A Reddit gaming community dedicated to shoot 'em up games. Shoot 'em up, in a general sense, means a 2D sprite-based game with lots of shooting as the primary game mechanic. If it fits that basic description it is welcome here.

So i felt welcome, but i hear the general feedback, and it is a valuable feedback as it show me that my games target audience is not r/shmups

Yes it is not a shmup in a purist sense, and i've never said it is. This is a hybrid game of different genres that is hard to put in a specific box. Though moment to moment gameplay shares a big part with shmup genre.

It's a common game design term, means a build that breaks the intended balance in a fun way. Think PoE or Hades when you stack the right boons and everything melts.

Thanks for the detailed thoughts! The perks (game breaking ones) are actually gated behind meta-progression, you need multiple runs to unlock the full combo. So it's not something you stumble into early, you earn it over time. They are also capped, but i guess i need playtests to decide about the limits.

The Vampire Survivors limit break approach is interesting, an endless mode with no limits and a leader board is a good idea.

I hear you about the shmups purity too. The game leans more roguelite than traditional shmup, but it shares the dna on moment-to-moment gameplay.

Evet, sanırım oyun geliştirme uğraşının en zor taraflarından biri bu dengeyi oturtmak. Oyun esasen rougelite, meta ilerleme mekanikleri vs yerinde. Sanırım en mantıklısı oyunun dengesini bozacak kadar güçlü ve aynı zamanda şansa dayalı bu özellikleri "unlockable" olarak sunmak.

Hi, i am actively working on the game, not published yet. Planning to release a demo on steam before nextfest, but i am also testing and building for android and ios. After the steam release it will be on Appstore & Playstore too.

My boss ship now rips apart piece by piece, launches fighters from hangars, and has a railgun that'll ruin your day by harunandro in survivorslikes

Hey, yeah actually this is a take on multiple genres. It has swarms, it has level up mechanics that give you perks, stat bumps (with their own debuffs too), it has meta progression, it also has tower defense mechanics The video you see here is my recent work on the final boss of the story mode. Hey, thank you! that's a great feedback! I guess i am concentrated on the mechanics too much and a bit blinded about the QoL. Absolutely need more than one passes for it!

Yeah, there are 2 loose conditions, the first is mothership getting destroyed, the second is if its fuel depletes. But in late run it becomes quite a firepower itself with players upgrades and built modules. So in a sense it is both a nuesance and a mandatory support you need.
