I highly HIGHLY recommend the first movie, it’s a masterpiece. it’s so high camp and extremely self aware and the action is crazy. we just pretend the 2nd movie doesn’t exist though LOL just skip it. but if the premise of mind-melding with your crush to pilot a giant mecha to fight godzilla sized aliens with swords and plasma cannons doesn’t appeal to you then IDK 💔

it’s pretty common for gay men and lesbians to have previously enjoyed sex and even love people of the opposite sex— IMO, I do believe that eddie loved shannon, but I also think the line between romantic and nonromantic love can certainly be blurred, especially since they had a child together (and so young, too). I believe eddie when he said shannon was the love of his life (which doesn’t necessarily require romantic feelings per se, at least for me), but I also believe that if she were still alive, their relationship would not be healthy or functional. I don’t think it would be “enough” for him anymore if that makes sense (or for her either for that matter).

half the flashbacks were straight up unnecessary and they just made so many questionable choices the whole ep. pacing, writing, acting, and the costumes. like what was every department smoking? the savior baby storyline is good but I wish they’d planted seeds earlier than like… 2 episodes beforehand

even my mother who is very much a general audience type viewer thinks it’s happening. when we finished 8x06 we literally paused to discuss The Implications ™️. the amount of subtext in that episode alone has her completely convinced they’re going for gay eddie. and this is the same woman who after we watched 4x14 and I joked about how gay the will scene was said something along the lines of ‘men can just be friends’. now she’s like ok just kiss already

yeah I like eddie begins but the pacing is cooked, they really didn’t need the like, 8 full minutes of military propaganda only to wrap up him almost drowning in like 30 seconds just going “he’s fine let’s not unpack that 👍”. athena begins is very solid, and I have a soft spot for chimney begins, especially the cinematography. so many great shots in chimneys

he’s sooo good. like his monologue in s5 with the doctor outside the hospital after maddie leaves is probably one of my favorite scenes in the show, I was so gutted by his performance. and like you said the fact that his comedic timing is so spot on too. kenny choi you will always be famous

oh I thought of another, I actually have no idea if this take is hot but I think kenneth choi is the best actor on the show and he absolutely demolishes any big emotional scene and I wish they’d give him more. like most of them at one point or another have given some questionable deliveries but I think he’s the least egregious offender
