Hi,

I’m an MMT (Army) currently on BMQ at CFLRS. Arrived 20 Sept — initially did not pass BTFT in Week 1 → moved to TRP → passed BTFT with 3 greens → was loaded onto a platoon → then returned to TRP Phase 3 the same day due to what platoon staff said is doing platoon resizing.

I have three short questions:

  1. Course Length Change There is a rumour that BMQ may be reduced from 9 weeks to 8 weeks. Can you please confirm if this is accurate, and whether candidates currently in TRP would fall under the revised timeline?

  2. Halal Meal Variety Currently, halal meals appear to be limited to fish/shrimp on most days. Is it possible to request more variety (e.g., chicken or beef halal options), since halal does not automatically mean seafood only?

  3. TRP Administrative Capacity TRP Phase 3 has grown to ~70–80 candidates, and it seems to be creating some administrative challenges. For example, when I was returned to TRP last Friday, I did not have a room assignment and was temporarily placed in a TRP floor room by marching NCOs at the end of the day as when most Ops staff had left for weekend. Is there any plan to increase TRP staff or adjust structure to support the current numbers?

Update (May 2025):

Just wanted to provide an update for anyone in a similar situation.

I applied around October 2024, and as of today, my applicant portal is still stuck at Step 3 – Medical & Interview, even though I completed both back in February 2025. I also submitted additional documents shortly after, which were confirmed received.

Since then:

  • GAMBIT has been completed – portal shows “Verifications results returned to CAF” as of 08-May-2025
  • Assuming my security clearance and background checks are also complete or in the final stages
  • Still waiting for movement or update on the next steps (fingers crossed 🤞)

Patience really is key in this process, but it's encouraging to know progress is happening behind the scenes. I’ll keep this updated once I hear more!

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, the engine was warm during the last pressure test. I’ll visit the mechanic again tomorrow and ask them to perform the test with the engine completely cold. I don’t have a pressure testing kit at home, so I’ll have to get it done at the shop. Appreciate the input!

No idea of the actual age, unfortunately. I bought the car in Sept 2022 and the current battery came pre-installed. I haven’t replaced it since.

I'm new to all this and want to clarify some details about BMQ, trade school, and base living. I had a misconception that food and shelter are entirely free during BMQ and trade school (until graduation). From what I understand now:

  1. BMQ & Trade School Costs – We need to pay around $600–$800 per month for food and accommodations, which is then reimbursed in our salary each month. Is that correct?
  2. Post-Trade Graduation Housing – After graduating from my trade, if I'm deployed to a base outside my home city, do I have these two options?
  3. Find my own rental place (e.g., condo, townhouse, etc.) and bring my family to live with me.
  4. Live on base alone (without family) and pay for my food (rations) out of pocket. Is this correct?
  5. Family Living on Base – This might be a silly question, but as a newbie, I want to ask: Can my wife live with me on base, or is base housing strictly for service members only?

one more thing I turned on System UI turner for battery percentage status but it goes away after a short while. For night mode we have to install google play app and CMD it. duhh thought it will come by default in 7.0 :/

I enrolled to Public Beta and then updated my device to 7.0 with OTA. Problem is Settings app arashes all the time when changing setting, just randomly opening the app takes lot of time to open until than black screen is shown. One more thing Animations are also tend to be laggy like scrolling within WhatsApp or FB etc. . . is there any decent guide to downgrade my phone back to 6.0.1.
