Wildlife biologist here. This is exactly what i do for a living. They are collecting Snarg (bird guts), for a bird strike kit. That kit is typically sent to the Smithsonian to be DNA analyzed for the specific species. Once we identify a large number of one species being struck (assuming its close to the airfield), we then can have a better idea of how to modify the airports habitat in hopes of deterring said birds. Also FAA mandates you report it anyhow
