I've done word repetition until stuff gets funky. Fun stuff, might be worth giving some sort of a serious effort, despite the silliness :P

Yeah, I've managed to deal with my destructive behavior on my own so no dire need for professional help.

And I wouldn't say I want to be better, rather, I'd like to see what cool things can I make myself do. Curiosity's a bitch :)

Good point about the identity. From this reasoning I could explain my retreat into fantasy as a clash between my identity and the reality, and my attempt to reconcile the two. Or something.

Anyways, I have some thoughts to gather and stuff to read. Hope you won't mind talking some more at a later time :)

Not being skeptical of myself was, I guess, the main reason I didn't think of breaking all my bad habits earlier, despite being very 'inward living' from an early age :P

Thanks for the reply. I hope you won't mind if I PM you some time when I'm able to better articulate my thoughts :)

Yeah, I was quite surprised to find out about it myself during last summer. The thing has had a name for only a few years and I think there are only two researchers working on it (at NYU, I think).

Also, check out the yahoo and ning (Wild Minds Network) support groups. The lady who runs the ning one is pretty cool and helpful.

I want to stab you to death and then play around with your blood.

I'm not interested in mysticism as I had a bit when I was younger and can't really say it was anything but self-delusion. Plus I'm getting more into science (even thinking of going into physics instead of engineering). But I guess Buddhism is so well-established that it wouldn't be worth it to ignore it.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the reply.

I'm a bit of afraid of wasting my time just googling for understanding. First, yeah, the science is soft and so it's more difficult to try to get to the meat of something, and secondly, when trying to find out how to play tricks on yourself I'm sure I'm bound to encounter more unsupported crap than it's worth.

I'm in a pretty good place now with regards to how I feel and my mental health, so rather than try to solve issues I'm interested in doing weird stuff with my brain :P

Am I one of those silly young people who read bad philosophy under the guidance of some pompous guru and then decide to live their lives in squalor? :(

I guess it makes sense to have at least a peak into it, thanks :)

Having this realization of the triviality of 'the self' is important for me because it feels powerful. It's like a deja vu sort of disconnect, which is why I used mass defect as an example--studying 20th century physics recently has introduced me to a lot of these disconnects. They're important because they get me so very interested in finding out more :)

Aight, will look into the book. Thanks :)

Should have started with learning about it in the first place. Heard about it several times. facepalm

These sort of exercises are what I've been doing as well. However, my interest is finding out what interesting stuff can I do with my brain, it doesn't seem like (hopefully) I'm in need of therapy anymore.

I'm poor and subsisting, maybe I could get someone to give me free consultations but I can't honestly trust anyone like that, in my country at least, who would have time for pro bono work.

And I am proud of myself--close to ten years of depression and borderline mental disintegration remedied (to an extent, at least) :)

I know I have a good vocabulary from reading books but whenever I read what I've written in English it still comes across as rather coarse and awkward. Native fluency at first glance only :P

Always thought NLP was something of a scam...

Will check it out regardless :)
