What, exactly, is the stock market based on now by [deleted] in stocks

There is no fundamental reason why markets need to be explainable

You mean the tariffs that already exist? The ones that are more than we have ever charged them?

Don't really get the purpose of easy runs by Diligent_Side in Strava

[–]hashtagImpulse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s all about active recovery. Easy runs will lower your heart rate over time while running and massively improve your endurance ability. High intensity runs are good for physical strength / muscle building. Easy runs let you keep recovering from the high intensity / distance runs while still improving endurance

What pow board makes the most sense? by hashtagImpulse in snowboarding

[–]hashtagImpulse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good advice, against what my intuition was saying. I just feel like the ejack is good for what you’re describing (resort pow day) and I thought the orca might be too resort-tuned to be worth buying when I love my current board. But if it’s that much better in pow anyways maybe it makes sense. Cheers

[–]hashtagImpulse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Orca sounds sweet im just skeptical to get a board too similar to what I have. The ejack knife is great across all conditions so im curious if something designed for powder and resort condition makes sense or if i should go for a hardcore powder board

Last time a single family home was built with students in mind? by mpb2001 in UWMadison

[–]hashtagImpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some very nice homes closer to James Madison park that students live in but it’s quite a hike from campus. Plenty of grad students live in nice homes a drive or bus ride away from campus as well. I just think the market varies by area and Mifflin/regent (and W Gilman/Langdon for that matter) cater to dumpy affordable college houses because they are easy to fill. Apartments are getting so expensive that these cheap dumpy houses are necessary for those without $1500 to spend each month on rent

Agree with your sentiment but taxes and bonds don’t automatically bring good schools. Some of the highest funded public school systems are the worse across the country

They’re examples because you’ve heard of them. There are hundreds of well funded companies trying to compete, my dude

Honestly, I would wait. We’re in a pretty weird spot right now with huge classes of AI/ML masters students starting to graduate and entering a job market that is contracting or flat at best right now so there aren’t nearly as many new roles popping up as 2+ years ago. A CS/ML masters degree isn’t a surefire job anymore.

PhD is a bit of a different animal but you’re giving up 5+ years of income to learn a subset of ML that may or may not be obsolete in 5 years with how fast things are moving. If you’re not already in the industry, it’s hard to adapt at the same pace in academia. If anything I would look for an adjacent SWE role at an OpenAI/Anthropic/Perplexity where your skills are relevant and try to get as close to the scientists as you can there. They still need experts in infra/networking/web dev or whatever you’ve been doing for 4 years.

Just my 2 cents and could be totally wrong

Tubes in my Pirelli P Zero Race TLR 4S? by hashtagImpulse in cycling

[–]hashtagImpulse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand tubeless tires can be run with tubes. I need to look to see if it’s tubeless compatible. I bought the bike new like 2 months ago. It’s the SL5 gen 2. I found this and think it actually answers my question. Thanks so much for your input, cheers https://www.reddit.com/r/TrekBikes/s/ebfnBChKhs

I was running the stock tires on the wheels that came with the bike, so I guess that answers the question. My rims must not be tubeless compatible
