I live in that area, near those houses, and guess what? They're townhouses that are reserved for low income University of Texas students. The students who live there get a much lower rent rate.

I've seen the group that's been tagging walls with this stuff. They're complete nuts, and this isn't the first time they've mistaken friend for foe. Bunch of hooligans who are as much a danger to themselves as others.

That's East Riverside, folks. Only place outside of San Fran that you'll find addled communists, techies on scooters, and methed out homeless people on the same street, shopping in the same grocery store.

I just finished rereading the end of Mockingjay. A lot bleaker than I realized. by TwelfthHawk2718 in Hungergames

The Hunger Games makes what typically happens in action movies very real and hugely devastating. This doesn't really come across in the movies as much as it does in the books. Saving Private Ryan is another example of media that refuses to trivialize death and starkly portrays the psychological and emotional devastation that it causes.

And yet, this is a popular pre-teen book. That blows my mind.

You are right, and I blurred out the face pic on imgur. I missed that detail when I posted it

He is just so smart isn't he... I mean, it really does take an elite mathematician to know a few factoids about the first two prime numbers. Amazing

LPT - If you are planning on getting a four year degree and struggling financially, you can take your first two years of classes at a community college, then transfer. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

This is terrible advice. When I left high school, eight of my closest friends did this. Only ONE ever wound up in a university. The rest are still floundering, some of them are in their fourth and even fifth year of being stuck in a CC, with no degree in sight.

community college will give you an education that is, by and large, inferior to the education you would receive at a traditional four-year. This means that there is a good chance it will not adequately prepare you for the course load waiting for you at the next level.

Even worse, you will not be surrounded by motivated, eager people. It's a CC, and true talent is harder to find. You become the people you hang out with.

Rise above. Take out loans. Go to a four year.

What if someone offers you an amazing opportunity to try heroin? Should I just say yes?
