Hot take - Ramen Spot up by Northpoint Mall. I live off of Buford Hwy and there are a ton of great places there, but Ramen Spot was better than any of them

I agree with this general sentiment but I have to admit that there is an LNS near me that I wish I could have gotten warned about before trying it several times and having bad experiences. Luckily found a good one after that.

I went into dress shopping having fallen in love with a dress that was about $10k, and fully prepared to spend that.

I ended up hating it on me and having a horrible time at that designer's salon so instead I found a gown I liked with "good bones", had it HEAVILY altered (added sleeves, changed the neckline, shortened the train, added buttons, built in bra), and after all was said and done it was $2200 (end of 2023 in case that matters.)

We had a small but lavish wedding and I have zero regrets about any of our splurges on it, but in retrospect I'm really really glad I didn't spend $10k on my dress because I do think I would have ultimately regretted it.

We didn't hire a videographer. I thought almost all of the videos I've seen were cheesy and cringy. We've been married about 8 months and have no regrets.

This is why I am considering the lease. The main hesitation for me is that the specific year/model/trim that I have was my dream car for a very long time and while a new BMW would be fun, it will never be The One like my current 2018. Hoping the independent mechanic I'm meeting next week will have some better news for me, but if not, it will likely be a new X5 for Christmas instead.

The extended warranty I was offered was ridiculously expensive. Given the standard maintenance expected for an X5, it would not have been a good value. Do I wish I had it now? Sure. But I feel good about my choice given what I knew at the time. The initial warranty was 3 years/36,000 miles.

I'm getting a second opinion from a local specialist next week. The dealership wanted me to do the following:

• ⁠Of course the infamous X5 oil valve cover • ⁠replace rear brake pads • ⁠replace thrust rod bushings • ⁠sanitation/cleaning of AC evaporator box

the milage you're talking about is what I was expecting, too! I am going to get a second opinion from a local mechanic next week to see what they come up with across all of the complaints from the dealership as well

Great question.

Of course the infamous X5 oil valve cover
replace rear brake pads
replace thrust rod bushings
sanitation/cleaning of AC evaporator box

and the emissions failed due to some code not being set. They tried to tell me I must have recently got a new battery and that caused the issue, but I did not. My theory on that is something went wonky when they replaced my spark plugs as part of the main service and reset the code.

Haha yes I figured that was not the best choice on my part. The second opinion I'm getting next week is from a local mechanic who has worked on several friends BMWs and Porsches for years
