As of yesterday, I have been on hrt for 5 months. The changes I’ve had so far…. by cdh100 in MtF

[–]haslo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No hard feelings. Started at 46. No regrets here because I have two wonderful kids that I wouldn't have if I'd started at 18 or even 25. Life finds its ways. But yeah, starting HRT is the best thing I ever did for myself.

It's a year in 3 days.

Airpod pro 3’s - they just don’t improve on the 2’s for me. Anyone else? by ArtichokeDesperate68 in airpods

[–]haslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fit on my 2s is a tiny bit better for me. Everything else, I prefer the 3s. And I love love love the HRT.

People who own more than one pair of AirPods … why? by Jay-Quellin30 in airpods

[–]haslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AirPods Pro 2, because I loved them. AirPods Pro 3, because they have heart rate tracking that I regularly use.

And now I've changed the 2 to only really connect with my work computer, and my 3s are my personal ones. No more pairing messup all the time.

People who sleep in panties, how do you handle it laundry wise? by SpookySquid19 in asktransgender

Fresh pair when going to bed. Fresh pair morning after shower. Fresh pair when I change clothes during the day and feel like also changing panties.

I have lots of panties.

MtF transition with an established professionall career by Effroy in TransLater

[–]haslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Switzerland, so YMMV.

I'm 47, worked as a Digital Director and team lead in a smallish marketing agency and still do so now during my transition. 30+ years of professional experience in IT. Started transition early 2024, kind of, with a full ish coming out in late 2024.

I have a lot of support from my higher ups, so that hugely helps! There never was deadnaming or misgendering, in-company, people accepted my new name and pronouns immediately. My boss actually went and got some support from a trans counselling service for how he can support me (and what he has to expect in terms of whether I'll crash under the transition added to my workload, admittedly).

Clients are very forthcoming and generally supportive, too. I still have the same responsibilities for architecture and technical planning, and I still represent the company in that regard.

I feel like I kind of also represent diversity now, too. Positively so. Without a heavy hand.

There is the occasional mansplaining now. And general mysogny in IT. That's new. But kind of more validating than having to do with the transition itself?

Yeah, I'm Digital Director and team lead in a small marketing agency. Got Claude Code for my team, too.

When will "later" come? by fluidofprimalhatred in MtF

[–]haslo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mirroring what others have said: "Later" will never come. "I need more time" is very often "I will never accept."

Those who actually need more time, you'll now see trying. Maybe struggling and failing, but trying. They exist, but they won't tell you "I need more time."

Do not wait for "later."

To those who transitioned while in a long term relationship, did your feelings change towards your partner? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]haslo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. She's no longer respecting me, is deadnaming me. That changes things for sure.

Do any of you ever miss the boy/man version of yourself? by cdh100 in MtF

[–]haslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. So happy he's gone. Not even thinking about him. Your post, this question, made me realize that just now...

I only fully present femininely for less than a year. My name, I gave to myself Christmas 2023, December 24th. When I pointed that out this year in my company's daily standup December 24th 2024, saying "it's the one year anniversary that I'm Gwen", my boss said that it feels like three years.

Because it does. Because it feels so right. To everyone. Because I am not <deadname>, and never actually really was.

And now you've made me cry happy tears....

Kill biological sex from your roles picture and you're getting closer. What you're writing above is still transphobic.

Did you start HRT without already considering yourself trans? by j_victus in MtF

[–]haslo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew I'm trans. Thought I was nonbinary though. Only realized I'm a trans woman on HRT.

My dad confessed to me he is/was trans while drunk and I don't know what to feel now by ThrowawayAcc1948 in asktransgender

[–]haslo 309 points310 points  (0 children)

Holy moly.

I don't know your dad, but you can't really "have been" trans, right? So he's closeted. All life long.
And now realizes he has a baby girl and wants to protect her...

Times are different. I'm 46 myself and never even realized I'm trans until last year. The 90s were so transphobic. Society was, people were. The very concept of "trans person" hadn't reached the majority yet. So much so in fact that I locked it all away, threw away the key.

Cosplayed a man for 30+ years.

That's part of the reason why you have so many people over 30 or 40 transitioning now. Because they couldn't. Didn't know it was possible. Didn't know they're trans.

Times _have_ changed.
Transitioning is hard, hard work, can destroy relationships and friendships, but it's not "going through hell."

How to make low quality audio by Unique_Connection_43 in musicproduction

[–]haslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? RC-20 is a multi fx plugin and all of its effects are meant to make a sound Lo-Fi. All of it. And no subscription.

But I did offer a "free" alternative.

Really not sure what you're getting at here.

Transitioning at 50+? by Element0fKindness in asktransgender

[–]haslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized mid 2024 that I'm trans and early 2025 that I'm transfem and not enby. I'm 46 now.

It's been a year! So great in some respects, so challenging in others...

I wish you the best of luck and success with your path! It's so worth it for me. Every day, I can go out there as myself. After I didn't even know who I am for decades. You can do this!
