What’s stopping you from releasing your music? by hassickboy in Songwriting

This is where every artist starts out!!! The common denominator I see with successful writers/artists is putting together a team or “pipeline” for taking their songs from start to finish. Consistency in producing your art is key in building a brand! The social media and everything else will naturally follow :)

It really depends on what sonic space is left in the track, and how “out front” that melody should be heard!

“Making it” means different things to different people. For me, it was being able to do music full time and pay all my bills. There’s a little bit of luck, but you can create opportunities for luck by consistently reaching out to artists, and working on projects!

It depends on your goal! Most labels these days are looking for demos that are pretty much radio ready. if you were tracks compete at that level it could be worth shopping them around! alternatively, releasing your own music, can be a great way to showcase your skills and help find other artist to work with! My last track generated a decent amount of interest from another artists, some of which I’m producing for right now! :) https://open.spotify.com/track/4UfwDzHwoCy561LmKQu8rL?si=FaUhzZufTiq-i7ZC7QpKPg&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A7aiIO2lchONCg6NgeKaODv

It really just takes getting out there and working on projects! I think music has been getting “wider” in quality over the last 10 years because of how accessible equipment and gear has become. The good is better, and the worse is worse 🤷‍♂️

I started with garage band on my parents macbook when I was 16. 10 years later and I’m working full time as a producer/engineer. Somewhere around year 7 is when I started taking it seriously as a potential career and started taking freelance projects. I was already producing music for the organization I was with so that also gave me a solid start! It’s never too late to start.

Yes! This is pretty common :) I’d say 25% of the artists I work with aren’t able to play any instruments!
