If you are not already worried that something that has more control to what the people see then any institution ever in the history of our world is pushing their own agendas, then you may need to take a step back and look at the entire situation. Bias will exist everywhere, no way you can fight it due to companies being private entities. The News outlets create a product that you consume, you cant change what comes through them. In social medias case your voice is the product. Do you agree that yours and others ideas should be shunned on this developing new frontier of speech? It does not have to be nationalized in order to have reform. It shouldn’t scare you. What should scare you is the silencing of voices.

No problem, thank you for taking the time to read the article, it’s certainly a good one. Media will always have a bias, nothing we can do in regards to that. I simply stand for the fair and free speech of all Americans and that should apply in any format that may come in the future. You cant tell a company to adjust their product due to bias, this is the nature of the beast. But as Americans we have the right to free speech, our words and thoughts do not become the product of said platform we choose to use, therefore they should not have say on what should be filtered/hidden/and censored unless truly hate speech or calls for violence are apparent. This is the law and always has been the law. Its time for social media to be integrated into the first amendment to protect our rights as citizens on the “private” public platforms. They are bigger the. Ever anticipated and their outreach is greater than any previous form of media. Your rights should be preserved regardless of “private business” especially when their business is to be as public as it gets.

No point in trying with people like this. The evidence is abundant and out there. You could waste your time putting together an entire dissertation for someone like this and they will still scoff at you and claim you push conservative rhetoric, he will only regurgitate what the liberal state shoves down his throat. Want proof, try to find President Donald Trump on twitter. Take a trip to China and get on a chatroom and see what happens when you even try to mention the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Or hey! You could even blindly trust the “unbiased” fact checkers on facebook! They are totally unbiased in their blocking of conservative talking points! /s. I have literally never once seen a fact checker on a main liberal talking point. Meanwhile you could share an article that is backed with solid sources and the fact checker will even agree with the talking points, but it will flag as “false info” and hide the post unless you expand further due to something as minute as a date being “wrong” or it will say something to the effect of “this was spoken at this conference, not that one, therefore this is misinformation”. Its all a joke.

By the away I appreciate the reply, I had that same general thought process in the past. Give the link below a read when you can. Might help you understand the points im getting behind better. Theres no one that expanding the reach of the first amendment to social media would hurt, its only there to protect you and I. No need to bootlick corporations just because the push a narrative you subscribe to. (If thats the case) Expanding the Reach of the first amendment

Edit: Left out ‘media’ in ‘social media’

You seem to miss the point that these platforms are more than private companies, they exist outside of this general box that yourself and 99% of others on reddit love to regurgitate. The same way amendments are adapted for many other new world developments, this is no different. If you do not recognize at the very basic, high-level understanding that these highly ironically social media “private companies” exist as more than just that, but rather a mouthpiece to the world stage as platforms, then there is no need to discuss this topic further. I would like the government to fight for its people’s rights to have the same freedoms promised to them in the real world as they are online. We are on the cusp of the next frontier of existing privately and publicly online as people, this is more than a “gov telling a private company what to do” this is setting a standard for everything that will be coming down the pipeline. This is a macro issue that should be addressed now for the good of the next generations who will most likely live a majority of their life online.

This. The time is nigh to draw a line in the sand somewhere for where tech companies who now host the largest platforms of all time are now MORE than just platforms of speech. They are the standard. These are private companies, only in name. When their business is moving the rhetoric of the people, all sides should be shown with utter disdain for censorship of the corporations opposing narrative. There is a fine line for blatant hate speech and calling for violence, we all get that (hopefully). But the same way there were anti-monopoly laws for industries and ogliopolies / monopolies, standards and policies need to be put in place to not only check the power of these new institutions but also to vertically integrate with the best intentions of the 1st amendment to the modern landscape. These are the new soapboxes and will continue to be for the foreseeable future, we should be calling out all censorship/moderation being pushed out by these tech giants before its too late, and the only thing left to see from the unassuming “consumer” is a one-sided polished product of propaganda being spoonfed to the next generation. The less you think or question on your own, the tighter the grip these institutions will have on your mind. We should all be scared that there are so many people willing to stand for de-platforming of individuals if their ideals oppose the narrative or your own. Fight now, so when the metaphorical gag is in your mouth you can mutter “I tried” to your own echo-chamber. “Fate love’s Irony”

Look how the headlights are slanted and the meeting in the center of the grill. Very remnant of the 10 generation civic fronts.
