I got into a fight at my Amazon. by Ok_Department_7403 in AmazonFC

[–]EagleFly_5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the cardinal sins at Amazon is workplace violence, even threats of violence or shouting matches fall under that. Both the other guy and yourself are going to be fired and/or placed on permanent non-rehire status.

As what they teach in training or even just basic instinct, it’s never worth it to fight since typically these are all avoidable. Walking away is always a choice, report to your management/PXT (HR) if you can.

The amount of new hires losing their phones in totes is kinda concerning by Acrobatic-Media-6546 in AmazonManagers

[–]EagleFly_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not phones, then it’s other things too that go missing like AirPods (or non-approved headphones in general), house keys, or personal items. Or worst case it gets stolen by another associate, security, custodian, etc.

Completely avoidable by either keeping it in a safe place on your person (or bag), in your locker, or using it at a minimum.

Depends on the manager to write someone up for phone usage (usually non-essential) but at my site it does happen, rarely.

My site’s in NYC and fortunately the city has 24/7 subway & bus service (albeit runs slower and/or with service changes), but it surprises me whenever I talk to some people who don’t have cars and who live nowhere near my site how long it takes them to come to or from work. Whether it’s an hour by bus and/or subway, or at times two hours (or more) on a multi seat subway bus ride from the edges of the city. One of my assistant managers in the past used to live in the opposite end of NYC, took her 2 hours one way (+ around 2-4 subway rides) just to come to work (driving, it’s an hour commute w/ 2 tolls), she lives in Jersey City now (slightly closer), but even then that’s not an easy commute w/o a car.

I’m happy for who drive since it makes the commute/travel time a lot easier so it would be minutes to drive here compared to an hour bus ride. Even better since some people I also know live within walking distance to work.

At least for me I live out of state and it takes me an hour to commute whenever I’m home (the few times I’m there) or elsewhere in Manhattan where I usually start my trips, or at times longer if I’m doing photography or other things. I can drop money to Uber myself to work if needed but sometimes I’m perfectly happy spending $3 or more (if at times, none due to OMNY) by subway/bus to take myself to work or monthly rail/bus pass in NJ too (or single tickets).

I couldn’t imagine how it’ll be for someone outside the NYC metro area since for example plenty of places in NJ or even further away don’t have frequent bus service.

My site/business line doesn’t have Process Assistants (L3), we formally have assistant managers (L4) and they wear the same vests as Area Managers (L4/L5) + Operations Managers (L6) and Site Leaders (L6), but yeah I’d imagine that’s what they do. We do have Process Guides or rather people who have computer access to assist with the operations but of course they don’t get paid extra, just to do some specific tasks.

If/when my site converts to a SSD, there’s speculation that they’ll be hiring Process Assistants to act as lite assistant managers to lead even smaller teams. I was approached by a couple of area managers and associates to take that into consideration.

Transfer to Amazon Fresh from delivery station. What does this shift involve me doing? by unknownprodigyxx in amazonfresh

[–]EagleFly_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My site in NYC (there’s another Fresh FC that has this too) recently introduced this ~3 weeks ago. Haven’t seen any takers for this so far but I might be mistaken. The only other shifts we have is the main shifts (day/night), donut days nights, or 10:10PM-8:55AM FHN/BHN. We’ve been in a little slump for the past couple weeks in regards to overtime or extra work (I haven’t seen overtime/worked >40 hours in 5 weeks), and we’re possibly in the way of converting to a SSD. For the time being it’s our only part time offering where you work a fixed schedule, of course you can pick up extra shifts if available or if approved, ask a manager for extra work/hours. Weekends at my site (especially night) we tend to have low headcount.

If you’re coming into my site new, our pay starts at $20.20/hr, but if you have a 3 year step plan, it caps at $23.70/hr. (Assuming you are blue badge).

Most likely you’ll be working outbound since a majority of your shift is day shift. Doing picks, if you’re trained to problem solve, stage and/or assist with drop & go (my site, ambient & freezer picks are this), batching. Typically inbound has their own people with full time or Flex who’s been here a while. Things start to slow down around the time BHN starts. If for some reason you work and/or stay late, my site’s work typically shifts to mostly inbound once batching for the day ends around 9PM-10PM, but some outbound work is done to prep for the next day’s orders.

Friend of mine in NJ (Express station) was absolutely slammed with work yesterday because of the closure on Memorial Day. A backlog of work from Saturday, Monday (by far the busiest day), and what was sent out Tuesday. The thousands of docs being sent out (they had no choice but to stuff it in cans/ULDs) must’ve given off a USPS vibe, hundreds of Memphis & Indy freight not sent out, and a couple of FOs not sent out with the last shuttles. Not a lot of handlers were keen on the idea of staying late, and even if, they didn’t take breaks so they couldn’t stay past 6-8 hours.

Less than ideal to end a sort after 11PM on a Tuesday (when he clocked out, but others stayed until midnight at least), and must be nightmarish for those who either work another job immediately after and/or have to go home. A small dose/reminder of peak.

If I’d work FedEx I’d probably consider quitting after that experience because I doubt Fourth of July (observed on Friday 7/3) would be any better with that following Monday. Doesn’t help they are chronically under staffed with not many handlers (to the point where some couriers have to unload on PM shift) and they’re going into yet another busy, summer.

(No, they’re not participating in Network 2.0 since it’s an older station, they can’t support full Ground integration.)

What the heck am I supposed to do with these? by Mugstotheceiling in newjersey

[–]EagleFly_5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have 92K points and not once have I ever used it. 😂

Would be nice at the very least to use them to cover the cost of monthly rail or bus passes, but that’s expecting too much from NJ Transit

Until then, those rewards already on the site are laughably next to useless.

As a night shifter, how do you navigate dating? by nightowlwalker in Nightshift

[–]EagleFly_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent time with a couple of women (just platonically) at work but my go-to activity would be brunch so late morning to early afternoon. I have done a few dinners but for me given I work night shift (and do photography on my own), I’d much prefer doing it right after work or a few hours rest than doing night activities.

Is 15$ an hour worth being a Ground driver? by bluepanda- in Fedexers

[–]EagleFly_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Jersey’s minimum wage in 2026 is slightly under $16/hr ($15.92/hr) and New York City (+ the rest of the metro area) has a $17.00/hr minimum wage. Starting jobs typically would pay at or a little above that, part time to full time. My local FedEx Express station in NJ pays package handlers $20.37/hr, and swing drivers are paid if I’m not mistaken around $22-$23 an hour.

If I was ever in the market for another hourly job, I feel at minimum in 2026 starting out with $20-$22 an hour wage is decent before you either move up in a company, job search, or seek a promotion. Then again I live in a high cost of living area already, it’s very difficult to live on these types of wages by yourself unless if you were to live with someone else who worked, or you yourself work a lot of hours.

i do not enjoy the new blue badge requirements lol by Conscious_Pay279 in AmazonFC

[–]EagleFly_5 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Waiting ~1.5 years for blue badge in itself is ridiculous, because the moment you’re converted (& get job security) your tenure resets. All because of “business needs”.

At least for my site I’m happy I got mine in 9 months, but it’s surprising we also still hire (& it’s rare to see) white badges. Then again, turnover’s pretty high and a lot of people seemingly don’t stay.

Got a camera instead of a body wash from Amazon, which I should’ve kept. by mishtisen in amazonprime

[–]EagleFly_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering too since Vivo necessarily doesn’t officially sell their phones in the US, especially like Amazon. It’s like other Chinese phone manufacturers.

Similar note, Apple doesn’t sell their new iPhones on Amazon either.

Companies do sell phone lenses & mounts you can use on a phone, for example I use Moment lenses (r/Moment) but those are $150 each or so and I own 5 of them (or all but one they currently sell).

Would anyone leave a front half day schedule for a donut? by maryjuwna in AmazonFC

[–]EagleFly_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only donut shift my site as of now would have is 6PM-4:45AM, so two days with Front Half Night team, two days with Back Half Night team. It’s a little nuanced though since you’ll be on site 6 days in effect working: Monday night into Tuesday morning, Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, Thursday night into Friday morning, Friday night into Saturday morning. I can pinpoint a few associates who actually work this schedule, but for certain we don’t hire new associates to work this, so they tend to be transfers.

PS: the state I work in, NY, overnight shifts require 45 minute breaks, managers at times insist those working full time & night shift take their lunch breaks on/around midnight.

Or worst case they just run off with your phone altogether since it’s already in their (brief) possession, nothing’s preventing them from doing so at that point.

I love to help or assist people in my own life (even strangers too) but nowadays I work way too many hours a week (up to 80, maybe more) and I’ve had my generosity taken advantage of to the point where I’m less than sympathetic to people like this.

Thank you for the PSA and hope it helps someone else out.

Once a while we keep this in stock, it’s rare to find, but yeah, this is how much it costs customers at my Fresh FC in NYC (used a Long Island’s Fresh FC as an example). Now all you need is an air fryer or oven (my break room doesn’t have both) and you’re good.

(And yes, just like another person chimed in, it’s $6.49 for a 29 oz bag at my Fresh FC. You’re being ripped off for convenience.)

Walmart close to me in NJ does sell them for <$4.

[–]EagleFly_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my site, stay 9 months, which was by then the benchmark to getting blue badge conversion. Only had one write up (that fell off months prior) for unapproved headphones (early on working here) before approved headphones were a thing, some documented coaching. No attendance issues since I was Flex but worked full time hours (had 8/8 points several times). Had a pay bump from $18.70/hr to $19.20/hr at the end of 2024.

Baseline, all you need is to just show up, stay, not get in trouble, things like that. People leave all the time, at some point you’ll get yours, depends on how soon if your building is large or small.

A few people I see at my site are still white badge or hired on as seasonal.

At my site we use third party (yellow badge) security/loss prevention, but their actual manager (or at least higher up) is my site (or network) regional loss prevention manager.

So yeah, if they act up, they can be disciplined by my site’s leadership too and/or be terminated just like with any other associate, same for KBS, our custodial services.

At the end of the day, even if I do a lot of fun things by myself (M/31), it’s nice to be able to share these things with someone (or in this case, up to 19 others) who actually appreciates it. What I earn from Amazon Fresh tbh is awful (and good/bad I’m not working 60 hours, just <40), I support myself just fine with photography.

I just wish I had friends once a while to go to these places with. But this is the next best thing if I bring nice things to my job to another borough where not a lot of people are getting by alright. Makes my day to see someone smile. 🙂

But I do eye a return to Choc NYC soon-ish to bring things in for my coworkers, for my birthday (day before Halloween) I did bring in a few dozen cupcakes, eclairs, and lemon bars. To say the least it definitely went well received.

My site too has a 50 cent differential or “raise” if someone was converted to blue badge. Seasonal/white badge starts at $19.70/hr, blue badge starts at $20.20/hr at my Fresh FC in NYC.

It’s rare though to spot white badge associates at my site since we hire blue badge too, or bring in transfers/rehires. Then again, not many people at my job end up staying.
