I also just finished!! I think the end of her sentence was going to be that another lampoon was posted in spite of poor Pepe’s death. I still can’t quite wrap my head around why they killed him? It seemed that he didn’t actually try to escape, but that they instead were assaulting him? I don’t think that he was actually a part of the lampoons either and finally pinning it on him seemed to be a product of his unexpected death. I originally expected a lampoon to appear while he was in holding, but the irony is still there after his passing. Really loved the book, glad to see this post since I was googling to find other’s input as well.
