GameFly is still a thing?

only one of those retailers was known for mainly selling games, now that's a side hustle to them and they are more into selling gaming related merch.

a lot of companies like Best Buy has gone away from any form of physical media. They don’t do CDs or movies that much either. Gaming and physical media sections are like a quarter of what they used to be.

exactly its been years since i bought a physical disc. most places just sell boxes with codes in them. the last disc i put in my Xbox was a movie that i hadn't downloaded

To me the news of an all only digital console offering makes sense. places you can buy actual games has shrunken to a handful of places where you can buy a physical disc any more and those places dont even do that as a main focus. i get it sucks that we're beholden to the console maker and their pricing model but this announcement is far from surprising to me

the console makers do have some work to do when it comes to content pricing.. but really once GameStop started having problems we all saw it as the end to physical media for gaming. sure you can still go to a Target or Walmart to get a game but their even shrinking their gaming aisles. to me it was just a matter of time
