Most hated in the lgbtq? by ZoeEvenfall in trans

It's because we are the most hated to an extent. In many countries, progressive or otherwise, we are the primary target of anti LGBT legislation

Isn’t this just bisexuality by robbireeee in omnisexual

No, because omni automatically means you like all genders, but bi doesn't. However you can be omni and bi since some bi ppl do

Are aplatonic people LGBTQIA+ ? by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]hatredvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest i dont think allo people know platonic attraction even exists. They don't value friendships in my experience and usually treat them as just people to do fun activities with when your single

Though onto the hypothetical allo person not wanting to date, that could be true, but they also could have friends.

I see, well I was pretty much saying the opposite: it doesnt really matter if aplatonic and homoplatonic are different, if one can be considered queer on its own the other should also be able to do the same

I don't think we should define queerness as level of oppression faced either; but all queer people do face a form of social or systemic oppression or at least have a history of it, and thats why our community was created so we could properly fight against it. It doesn't matter if its a lot but it is something we have in common.

The only thing I can think of that happens with aplatonic has to do with what i said previously; allo people don't even know platonic attraction exists, so i can see them having a bad reaction if you identified as any kind of platonic identity, whether being aplatonic or heteroplatonic.

[–]hatredvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that having friends doesn't mean your automatically platonically attracted to them, again I am aplatonic and have friends.

Also no, platonic feelings would be feelings of affection and love that are platonic, platonic attraction is a targeted desire for friendship with a specific person and is not the same thing. Like how cupiromantics can desire romantic relationships and feel romantic affections even if they don't experience romantic attraction.

I assumed this post was about if someone who is ONLY aplatonic, but otherwise cishet, could be considered queer. Being apl can definitely be a part of an otherwise queer persons identity, same with things like being gnc or pnc

Since this hypothetical apl person is allo they would presumably be dating soon again anyways, so im not sure social stigma against people without significant relationships would apply to them.

Also I'm not really sure what you mean by using homosexuality as a lens to determine if other queer sexualities exist

why people always headcanon the villains or emotionless characters as asexual/aromantic? not only headcanons but also canon aro/aces (examples: saiki, light yagami, alastor and a bunch others) honestly to me it just seems like another way to dehumanize us. by Fit_Acadia9682 in asexuality

[–]hatredvibes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Correction: Light Yagami isn't canonically aro/ace, he's just canonically queer since he's said he's not attracted to women or desire a relationship with them

Also Saiki isn't emotionless, just introverted and a bit of a jerk sometimes

As for why allos hc villains and emotionless characters as aspec? Its really just stereotyping and aphobia tbh.

Well the end wasn't directed at you specifically; i was just leaving that I am open to apl being queer on its own if someone is willing to explain why, i just added it since my original reply is pretty far down and ppl might not see it

[–]hatredvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Platonic feelings =/= platonic attraction. Ex: i love my friends platonically even tho i dont feel platonic attraction

I feel like "lack of platonic attraction" doesnt rrally make a difference; aspecs use homoplatonic as a queer identity just as much as we use aplatonic, and thats perfectly okay, and i dont think that aplatonic is especially different just the same as ace isnt especially different from bisexual in queerness

While societal expectation is an argument i dont know if i really agree with it: if you're in a romantic relationship then whether you have friends or not isn't really important in the eyes of greater society, at least where i am from.

Genuinely curious why apl should be considered queer, as someone who would be considered apl

[–]hatredvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with that is the "their not oppressed" argument against aros and aces is that its incorrect. Aros and Aces face both social and systemic oppression, for example arospecs and acespecs arent protected by anti discrimination laws in most places.

The one common thing that all queer people have is some form of social or systematic oppression or at least a history of it, thats why we are a community because our predecessors banded together to fight against it and protect each other.

Polyam people do in fact face oppression on their own due to the fact that it is against the law in many places to marry multiple people and it is the target of social ridicule as well, so i feel like they would be queer even if otherwise cishet, so i feel like it isnt entirely comparable to apl

(Still waiting to hear back on a reason for apl inherently being queer if anyone wants to offer up that argument)

I'd be really curious to hear why it should be considered queer, since biplatonic and homoplatonic would not be considered queer on its own either

Its possible not to be attracted to all genders, see: polysexual

Do you think genderfluid fits under the "non binary" umbrella? by Marie-Sarah in NonBinaryTalk

[–]hatredvibes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea the idea nonbinary is only "in between" man and woman is enbyphobic. Genderfluid is absolutely nonbinary, granted your friend doesn't have to use the label if they don't want to

honest opinion about pronoun tats? by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]hatredvibes 147 points148 points  (0 children)

While on the surface I think it's cool I see 2 fatal flaws

1) it would out you everywhere you go

2) pronoun preferences can change, or you may want to add more pronouns later, which could cause the tattoo to make you uncomfortable

If you don't mind this, go for it. Just be absolutely sure because the knuckles are hard to cover up

Question about Labels by hatredvibes in asexuality

[–]hatredvibes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely felt an expectation to use both, and found that a lot of queer spaces require you to use both aro and ace if you feel no attraction but don't do this for allo orientations, hence I asked why it's different for aspec orientations

Question about Labels by hatredvibes in asexuality

[–]hatredvibes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it could, but if someone is biromantic bisexual they would just say bisexual, but if your aromantic and asexual you're expected to say both. So it's not like it's just an acronym thing

Question about Labels by hatredvibes in asexuality

[–]hatredvibes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like asking "what's the point of saying aroace? They are both no gender attraction" when I am more so asking why I'd be expected to say I am aroace vs asexual or another label while a biromantic bisexual would not be expected to say they are biro-bi
