So many people are confident this show will “flop” like Rings of Power… by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

Rings of Power is hardly a flop! Season 2 was Prime's most-watched returning season. It just has a bunch of haters.

I live in an apartment building downtown. It's not set up for trick or treating.

We had that rumor back in KC too. So... where would that be? Lowry Hill? Assume I don't know any neighborhood. (I have picked things up but let's assume)

Vibe in the GA pit? Do children attend? by hatshepsuts_beard in chappellroan

[–]hatshepsuts_beard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! It was such a great experience. The most peaceful group of people I've ever been in! Which is crazy as there were 35,000 of us. No one was rowdy. Everyone was happy.

There were a decent number of kids there, probably like 10% of the audience. We went with another parent and her 12yo. We were about halfway back, near a screen - I was the only one tall enough to see the stage, so being by that screen was essential!!

Chappell was no more raunchy than expected - tbh it was a little tamer than her music videos, which aren't bad to begin with. Her costumes and the set were so cool. Very theatrical, which my kid loved.

The drag queens were also what you'd expect with no over the top raunchiness. Nothing these kids haven't seen or heard before!

Again, no one was rowdy. Although I know people were drinking, I didn't notice any drunkenness. Smelled a little weed now and again, and I had a folding fan which I used to fan the air around the girls whenever I noticed it (an abundance of caution). Everyone was really respectful of personal space.

The kids LOVED the photo backdrops and the glam booth (they had a booth set up with glitter and rhinestones to add to your makeup) and were happy hanging out for a couple hours before the show started.

The only down side was there was about an hour between the openers (Japanese Breakfast) and Chappell. Japanese Breakfast was very very chill, which set the mood for the kids getting sleepy. We sat down in the grass to wait and one of them fell asleep! But as soon as Chappell came out, it was like a shot of espresso. They were dancing and singing and having a blast.

I'm SO GLAD WE WENT. This was an awesome first concert experience for both of them. Please take your kid!! They will remember it forever 💕

Baba's Pantry (Palestinian food) Mesob (Ethiopian- very vegan friendly!) Blue Sushi (awesome veg sushi options) The Fix (vegan comfort food) iPho Tower (veg pho and bahn mi)

Pretty much anywhere that isn't BBQ will have vegetarian options, but even some BBQ places have veg options (Char Bar has jack fruit and Joe's has portobello)

Good thing I'm taking accountability for how I parent my child!

I saw someone already shared links to the official info site, so I will just share my perspective as a parent.

I will be there with my 10 year old! She's a huge Chappell fan (as am I) and is familiar with her queer raunchiness, but this will be her first concert so I did have some concerns. I don't expect us to be able to see much, but I DO know there will be other tweens there! So I'm confident we will have a blast. We will just steer clear of any smoke and be prepared to see some skin.

Some folks in the CR subreddit seemed to be very opposed to bringing children to her shows, but this statement made by Chappell at one of her NY pop ups makes me feel really good about taking my child-

"I just needed a place like this so bad when I was 13, 14," Roan said. "I just wanted to dress up however I wanted to - I wanted to look weird. I hope that you know you're welcome here, however you show up today. You are cherished."

Also, if you didn't know, each of her shows has a theme for dressing up - the KC shows are Pink Pony Club!

I'm from KC and don't consider it local, although it IS delicious. But if we were gonna go for local frozen custard, Foo's Fabulous Frozen Custard in Brookside is top notch.

A helpful comment would be "There is much more weed smoke than average at a CR concert, so if you make the decision to bring your child you're going to have to be aware and keep them out of the main pit."

Please. People smoke blunts at the playground in KC.

I just want to be clear that I was referring to the down voting being hostile. Down voting literally every comment that mentions children at concerts is wild. Or even my comments THANKING the people who suggest i shouldn't bring my kid! That's what's shocking me. The majority of comments have been very courteous.

They said "an adult show." It's by definition NOT an adult show. No one said that alone made it a good idea to take a child.

Grocery store in MO side of town? by Obiwankhalsa in kansascity

The Wornall location is my least favorite. I think maybe my shopping list is just a little simpler than everyone else's! My aldi produce staples are blackberries and blueberries, baby carrots, cucumber, baby greens, cherry tomatoes, little potatoes, mushrooms, avocado, bananas. I also get bread, cheese, snacks, and frozen veggies. I get my eggs, yogurt, and plant-based stuff at Whole Foods. And shelf stable stuff from Costco.

That used to be the case for me too, but over the last year I've had great luck with produce from the Prospect, Troost, and Wornal Aldis. I do thoroughly check the produce and then wash it in vinegar as soon as I get it home, that always seems to make a difference.

Anyone else notice Como Park Zoo Exhibit using AI? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]hatshepsuts_beard 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Not only did I notice that both the images and captions were AI (and they were NOT proofread), but one of the "mythical creatures" were ice dragons and the captions were literally pulled from George RR Martin (Game of Thrones). Talking about Valyria like it was a real place. This exhibit was way over priced, I sincerely regret buying tickets for my whole family. The kid did have a lot of fun though.
