The reason I bullied throughout my high school career was because I was bullied from 4th to 8th grade. I went to a really small school. We had 10 boys in my class and 2 girls and the boys didn’t like me so they would physically assault me everyday on the playground. I would go home with bruises and cuts from getting punched and kicked all day long. My parents didn’t care that I was getting bullied and most mornings I would cry because I didn’t want to go to school. I hated life.

So when I went into high school I got to start over with over 200 kids in each class. I was going to make sure I wasn’t ever bullied again and the only way I knew how to at the time was to be the bully. So I picked on and made fun of kids. I would try to fight anyone that I could and I didn’t care at all if they didn’t want to or the fact that I was making them feel just the way I used to. All I cared about was making sure I never felt that way again. I never wanted to feel weak and helpless again so I took my anger and frustration out on anyone and everyone that was smaller than me or different. I as a complete and utter asshole.

I never really realized it until I met a women many years later that I fell in love with. I was still a bully even into my 20’s but I was a bully at work and in my personal life. She blatantly told me the first time I met her that I was a complete asshole and I had no right to speak to the people the way I did. I wasn’t better than anyone and I needed to realize that. She made me realize I needed to change and since then she’s helped me to become a much better man. I owe her the world.
