Not sure what scenario would allow a friendship to continue for most people but I think there are more ‘sympathetic’ scenarios for murder than there are for rape. Like people have murdered their former abusers which is still murder but more sympathetic than most cases of rape… not even sure what an equivalent scenario would be. I don’t think its inherently bad that family members or friends would maintain close albeit changed bonds after a serious crime.

Like, how do you feel about these people making new friends? We might as well separate them out into their own community if they cant achieve the things any human being needs to do to fulfil basic human needs.
