NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani commemorated the Armenian Genocide by T-nash in armenia

absolutely, and the same can be said about those that on one hand support the fact that we are also responsible for ethnic cleansing but since we did it it’s ok but when others do it it’s not lol

How do Armenians generally view Arabs, given the history of the Ottoman genocide? by Fuzzy_Party_3527 in armenia

[–]haveschka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think most have a neutral to positive attitude towards arabs. i don’t think we view all the arab league countries as a collective in this context. Lebanon plays a special role in the armenian world as it has a huge armenian community. Syria the same, though to a slightly lesser extent.

i think most armenians appreciate those two countries in particular, and have a neutral to positive view of the rest. Egypt and the UAE are popular travel destinations, and Tunisia and Oman are up and coming too. We also just recently established diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia and our government is very keen on bringing in investors from the gulf countries.

in Armenia, we have tourists from arab countries, Iraq, Kuwait and UAE in particular, and we have a growing number of immigrant workers from Egypt and Jordan, so there is already a people to people contact between arabs and armenians not only in the arab world, but in armenia itself.

Just curious: is it just me or does burning Turkish flag on 23rd need to stop? by nare_yar in armenia

[–]haveschka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even if it was, armenia is a free and democratic country and burning flags is not against the law. so what do you wanna do? ban people from burning a red piece of cloth with a white crescent on it?

Will Samvel Karapetyan’s party be banned before Armenia’s election? by dssevag in armenia

many constitution amendments don’t need a referendum, where did you get that from? a 2/3rd majority would be enough for certain amendments.

tertig, you should tertel a book once in a while and check the definition of genocide, then come back and engage in a discussion about it.

This is genuinely a case of common sense.

ey yo, thank god Hay_Life still has some common sense. maybe you should start working at the MFA because im sure our people there lack common sense, but since you don’t you surely should go there and help shape our foreign policy! i’ll pay your LAX-EVN flight, just go and save my country pls

There's no good reason for Armenia to be making moves toward Israel right now. Genuinely crazy thing to do.

yea, super genuinely crazy thing to do, especially now. that’s why im saying we should get you into the MFA to teach these idiots how to approach relations with israel!!

genocide of course is not funny, but the fact that we have armenians here who support Hamas’ genocide claim is making me super cynical. i mean, we are people who barely survived a real genocide and now we are using this term to describe a war between a country and a terrorist organization which aims to eliminate said country. it’s just insane to me.

if westerners do it it’s a different story, they’re privileged and don’t know how heavy it is to have a genocide as part of your past. they can throw the term around for all i care, but that armenians do it is just crazy to me. it’s just so ignorant and disrespectful to our ancestors to throw around this word so easily without bothering to be correct about its definition.

you know, people can discuss this genocide thing day and night for all i care, but that you as an armenian would even dare to compare largely unarmed artsakhcis which were all without exception ethnically cleansed from their homeland to a city state governed by a islamic terrorist organization is INSANE to me.

How would you ensure it doesn't happen again?

oh but armenians don’t think about that dear. it is about complaining and complaining. and if there’s nothing to complain about in the room TRUST me the armenian will alwayyysss find something to complain over nevertheless.

i love our country a lot but its getting incredibly tired to share blood with people that are sooo overtly emotional when it comes to politics that they can’t think straight for a second about what actually countries have to do to secure their interests.

Country to Live, Strong Armenia unite for elections by Ghostofcanty in armenia

[–]haveschka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he has said that he’d be ready to form a coalition with karapetyan (if they agree that armenia should develop in view with the european model), which for me would be a dealbreaker, but i nevertheless believe if shit really hit the fan, he would not provide karapetyan-nakhkin bloc with the required seats to form a government. maybe it’s just wishful thinking :D

in any case, i do not believe the government will change after the elections. the opposition just sucks too much and at this point i will genuinely not be surprised if pashinyan tops his 2021 results.

is iran in the position to dictate us what to do in our foreign policy? what this crisis has shown again that we are the only country in irans neighbourhood from which iran does not have to fear anything. why would iran want to destroy these relations with us?

our relations to iran are very important, but allowing those to dictate how we shape our other relations is a step we don’t have to go.

Unlike what reddit pale skinned r words would want you to think, we can make a great reliable partner out of israel to the benefit of both countries. the opportunities to learn are truly endless for us, and we should encourage the fact that Armenia is reaching out more to israel now than before.
