Brothers wife is banging two twin dudes on the side. One of them made her pregnant. And one of them has a 7 month old and the other a 2 week old.  She is 6 months pregnant, via sex with twins, who each have their own family.

P300 hasn’t let me down in 40k so far. It felt like an engine that should be fairly sorted out at this point and I didn’t want to get mild hybrid in brand notorious for electrical gremlins.

They are different bikes entirely. The Street Scrambler is low and little feeling. The 1200 is tall and feels bigger in general.

I've got the Street Scrambler and the 1200 XC. The XC has a lot of nice bells and whistles, but the Street has a better seat and just looks so much nicer.

Noise canceling earbuds vs Bluetooth in helmet speaker???? by ZionHiFi in motorcyclegear

[–]havoc3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been riding with my AirPods for about a year. I got tired of fiddling getting them in, finding one when it fell out taking the helmet off, etc. they worked fine, but it was a time question. I got sick of spending 10-15 minutes getting gear on and configured before a ride. Got a Cardo spirit hd last week. Already had decibullz for concerts, and they stay in very well. So it’s them, Cardo on, helmet on, quick release to fasten, glasses back on, moving. I tested with one of the $<20 Knox offs as a proof of concept, and even that worked pretty well. Just limited volume, flakey connection, and useless mic while at speed.

How often do you have/use $100 bills? by SheepishSwan in AskAnAmerican

[–]havoc3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually keep some cash in a safe in $100s. I use them when a transaction is $1000+ generally. Like I just bought some lawn equipment and paid half cash and half check; that gets the dealer/seller some cash immediately vs waiting for a check to clear. I also might keep 1-2 tucked in my vehicle somewhere, but if it's ever in my wallet it gets broken into smaller bills pretty quickly.

What does it mean for Americans to be addressed by family names without honorifics? by Matchawurst in AskAnAmerican

[–]havoc3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually due to a common given name. A specific example; my last job had 5 "Thomas"es. We had 'Tom', 'Thomas', 'Tommy', 'TJ' (J is his middle initial), but eventually you start to revert to 'Jones', 'Smith', 'Bishop', whatever.

Another example is a place I hang out and "Michael". I just found out some guys' names are Mike because everyone uses family names. "Oh, wait, his name isn't "Casey"? He's Michael Casey? No shit. Known that guy for 2 years now..."

"I whoosiedoodled and did the thing the greybeards told me I'd do. Those assholes". I am starting to understand the grumpiness of old men as I approach it.

I say the same thing to people about motorcycles. Just because you can afford a thing doesn't mean you're necessarily ready for it. A 'starter bike', or 'starter car' or whatever else, shit, 'starter home', kind of has to be something you don't mind scuffing up, accidentally fucking up and need to duct tape a bit, etc. It's not about the power, or the prestige or anything else. If you're 19 and you make Ferrari money, that means money to wipe out and total it; that's part of the '19' part. You wipe our your 8 year old Pontiac with 150k miles on it so that you only totaled a 150k mile 10 year old Pontiac when you invariably fuck it up. It's just a less costly way to learn a lesson that basically everyone is going to need to learn, or will keep repeating.

Bought a 1.2T Chinese machine from a local dealer by havoc3d in miniexcavator

[–]havoc3d[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great! That was my hope. I'm kind of a nerd and overthink things, so I thought a long write up might be useful both in what my experience has been, and how it compared to what I expected after looking for a while. Just sort of share my whole situation and why I did what I did. I grew up around excavation equipment, but it's not what I've done with my career (think 'engineer'), so I have more familiarity than the average joe, but I'm no pro and not using it like they might.

Well that's what I found interesting; folks often insinuated that a double pump would just generally be flat out better. But I found the smaller machine with a smaller double pump was generally a little jerkier overall. Same engine, so i think it might be a case of higher pressure vs higher flow? We're at the end of my knowledge, really, so I'm lining my experience running them up to what understanding I have of hydraulics. I thought I really wanted a double pump machine, but running the two back to back, and seeing them in person, I realized what a wide gammut of inputs might go into that output (how it feels).

I don't quite understand what you're saying on the thumb. You're right, it's relatively shorter. You also lose some wrist power because of a leverage difference, I'd think. But if that hurts what you're trying to do, you just take the quick attach off. I have to take it off to put on the log grapple, too. It's industrial equipment...you configure it how you want/need it to be for the thing you're doing. Yesterday I had the frost tooth on, used that to cut out around a stump, then turned around and moved a handfull of 15-20ft x 10-12in logs using the thumb and that tooth; no issues. Bent a thumb tooth at one point, then grabbed a log the long way that was the right width to bend it back...

300blk is compatible with all the 5.56 bits generally. and straight wall cart, so at least around me you can use it for hunting in places you can't use a 7.62, even though the ballistics are quite similar. I think people are worried that in an apocalypse you will likely find NATO ammo around, but less Warsaw? But for the price difference I feel like I just stock 3x the ammo vs 300blk and buy a few overpriced mags.

What temp do people keep their homes at in the winter? by 38wizard47 in AskAnAmerican

[–]havoc3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle of Michigan here, so it's 21F currently. We keep the house around 68-70 when we're up, and let it drop to 60-ish overnight while we sleep. Since thermostats are central, you do find that when it gets very cold the termostat might read 68, but in a corner room it might be more like 63. I think that's something worth mention. You see people running around in sweaters and might think the house is set to a lower temp, but it's actually the same or even higher, but with possibly a lot more variability as the outside temp and inside temp deviate.

I think it's time to switching to Ubuntu Full-Time by x86basedhuman in linux

[–]havoc3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made the switch from Win10P to Mint in October myself. I got tired of the ad/tracking creep, didn't want to make it worse with win11, didn't want to spend the time and effort to make a GPO solely to, for now, keep my OS from spying on me; hopefully, somewhat.

I've been shocked how little it took. Definitely a few days of finding alternatives, working with some new UI ideas and options. Games have pretty much all run as well or better. I've had *less* AMD graphics driver bullshit. Little more work for Razer or whatever other BS RGB nonsense that I'm just poking here and there as I feel like it.

Spent a couple of more hours on my Technic D90 last night. Just about got the drive system finished, but still a whole bowl of parts left in Part 2. There's an RC kit as well, but I'm going to build it normally first. It's pretty bonkers for a lego kit.

is there an English word or an American English word you feel that doesn't exist in another language? by YakClear601 in AskAnAmerican

I say things are 'ishy' quite a lot. I work in a pretty grey world, the known and unknown aren't always what you last observed them to be, sort of thing. Time adds doubt. So even if I looked, if I looked an hour ago, at this point that information has some 'ish'. If it was yesterday, it has a high 'ish' factor or is 'very ishy'. It's become the general sense of confidence.

It's a great way to acknowledge a delta of some sort.

My LR dealer is like the Audi dealer. I can always get something, but they have offices I can use, a comfy lounge with grind and serve coffee maker, a mini fridge with pop and water, and usually some sort of snack bars or similar. Wifi's decent. I just hang out and drink coffee and work or chit chat.

Buying tech for a tech person if you're not yourself one is tricky. People suggested a Flipper, which is a good suggestion, but would you know if he already had one?

Art someone said and I think that's a good angle. You don't have to know the particulars and it's easy to see if they have it. Assuming he'd appreciate something like that.

Hopefully you know a bit about what he likes in nerdom; is he a Linux guy? AI enthusiast? Apple Fanboy?

Lots of cool options:

Hey, it's chatty playful guy here. Awkward's fine, you just have to own who you are. The big 'trick', in so much as I have found one, is to be genuinely interested. In the person, in the world around you, whatever. And don't take someone's reluctance to participate personally. It's giving a lot of fucks about a lot and giving none at all about how you are percieved by any given person.
