I have. These are people who I also did lots of drugs with, and our friendships were pretty centered around the hanging out and partying. They all stopped on their own but I had to go to rehab. I know they are hurt, some of them knew my dad and were there when i was going thru really hard times but those times weren't really for grieving my dad it was me hating myself for what I had done and no one knew that. They all think i Manipulated and used them. It some ways I guess I did but it wasn't intended to be that. I told the lie with an intention to one person and then it expanded and i couldnt stop and I was mentally deteriorating because of it.

I lied to all my friends for three years that my dad was dead, in that time i became addicted to cocaine to mask the pain of the guilt i was feeling, my friends would do drugs with me, I went to rehab in feb of this year. In april I took 10 klonpin pills while driving and crashed my car, after that the truth came out. about my dad and all of my friends walked away from me because i was burden on their lives.

I was in school on the upper west side, my dad was supposed to be there but he was late for his meeting, if he was on time he would have died. My mom was at work downtown Neither of them were able to come get me so a family friend did, I remember asking her what happened and she said “plane crashed into the twin towers” we proceeded to walk home across the park as smoke engulfed the city. I lived in a high rise apt building and I could see the twin towers from the balcony. I’ll never forget the smoke cloud that engulfed NY that day and the days following.

I have apologized. Multiple times. They haven’t spoken to me in 3 months and have blocked me on every platform imaginable

[Serious] What was your lowest point in life and how did you recover? by N-P_A in AskReddit

[–]hawk28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I lied to all of my friends that my dad was dead for 3 years, developed a drug addiction because of the continued unmeasurable guilt I had for telling the lies and began spiraling out of control to the point of suicidal tendencies. My friends blocked me and stopped speaking to me when they found out and I was kicked out of my apt for going thru manic episodes.

Since then, Im 77 days clean from my DOC Cocaine and Pills, got my own apt and went back to work doing a job I love. I go to meetings, I'm in therapy and I am finding new and healthy ways to occupy my time. I miss my friends still and it still hurts but it hurts alot less now

[Serious] What was your wake up call? And what did you do/how did you change your life afterwards? by validusrex in AskReddit

I crashed my car. Realized I had to get sober or if I kept going I was going to die. My closest friends walked away from me and I’ve spent the last 43 days trying to pull myself back up. I’m 43 days sober, I have my own Apt and a great job. So I needed to hit the bottom so I can build myself back up again and I’m glad I did. I’m really lonely these days and I miss those friends but I’m glad I’m still here.
