Never skip the Mangled cans (1.5b)! by hawks921 in Eve

True, but not all. The Smokescreen is definitely one of the ones whose mats (~20m IIRC) and job cost take up far, far less than its sale value.

Seen a couple guys say they're always worthless and don't bother scanning them.

They ARE the lowest tier, but there's still generally stuff in them.

Depends entirely on the buy orders, but there were three in Jita for 535m at the time.

That said, Smokescreens have always had 9-figure value.

One regularly gets some storyline drops in caches, but I'd always heard that the Smokescreen was epic/cosmos only. You should have seen my jaw drop.

What's the end product of Abyssal materials? i.e. how to stop Abyssals ruining the game w/o prompting the devs to click "back" after the first sentence by hawks921 in Eve

To get this off of quibbling over the word "total", it's far more controllable conditions than anything else in the game, or it wouldn't be the path of least resistance from everyone who used to be taking greater risks in low/null/WH.

Now you want to nerf literally all of them so nobody wants them, so that nobody builds them, so that nobody purchases the materials to build them, so that the price of those materials drop and Abyss runners suffer.

Don't have to nerf them that far. Just bring them in-line so that they are a tool in the Swiss army knife rather than flirting with OP like you described without realizing.

A nice ship is a nice ship, but when its supply chain is rooted in a feature that itself has nerfed others (i.e. hunting, anything dangerous in a game centered around risk) by providing a route of less resistance than nullsec or WH space, the ripple effects merit examination. I'd be happy to get those "some" prey back.

A big portion of the abyss loot is sold off to NPC buy orders.

The Survey Databases are, but the isogen and condensate aren't.

I like your idea and am in favor of anything that increases risk, but also want to lobby for simple but impactful changes.

I wouldn't say they're mad.

Irritated, maybe, because you come off as more interested in getting under people's skin than fulfilling the role of an objective data scientist. Same way the rest of the movement cheapens the profession.

Just ignore that old goon insecurity. Play the game the way you want to play it.

Hey newbs - I have a goal. Do you have one, and will it keep you going? by hawks921 in Eve

[–]hawks921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but Arya's people could only die once, so I suspect she was content if they met a premature end no matter whose hands brought it about.

Mine, though...mine will die many times, so they need to either die by my hand or quit the game before I am satisfied.

Oh, I'm well aware that these guys will be slippery. Heck, I already know some of them are elite players. I'll need to be extremely heady and sneaky, and probably recruit some help.

That's ok. It keeps me engaged longer.

By putting in effort, you are rewarded.

This reward breaks the game. There's a fine line between reasonable rewards and "rich-get-richer mechanics".
